A zombie queen who's a terrible cook, blind, suspicious, and a skilled actress [Xiao Wan] x a sharp-tongued researcher with questionable social skills, who's gentle, feigns vulnerability, and is also a skilled actress [Bai Ning]
In her previous life, Xiao Wan was schemed against and turned into a zombie. After helping humanity win a great victory, humans repaid her kindness by killing her.
Even in death, Xiao Wan never regained her human identity.
Reborn as a zombie, Xiao Wan should have realized long ago that she ought to stop thinking about humanity.
So, now completely blind, Xiao Wan flees alone through the post-apocalyptic world.
But even after she escapes, human condemnation still follows her.
This time, Xiao Wan doesn't care. She lives among zombies, waiting for the serum to be developed so she can snatch it as soon as it's ready.
One day, she brings home a researcher disguised as a doctor.
It isn't a spur-of-the-moment act of kindness. They both have their own plans.
Rain pelts down on them, cold and despairing.
Holding the unconscious, gravely injured person in her arms, Xiao Wan speaks with biting sarcasm.
"Doctor, save me."
Xiao Wan carries in a strange bowl of "porridge" and comes through the door, pretending to be blind as she makes her way over.
To stay, Bai Ning has no choice but to choke down a spoonful of the awful "porridge" and praise it against her better judgment.
"The porridge is pretty good."
But Bai Ning doesn't know that Xiao Wan sees her sneaky attempt to dump the porridge perfectly clearly.
Xiao Wan knows this liar is spouting nonsense again.
After hesitating, Bai Ning still kindly advises her,
"Don't make this again."
Xiao Wan smiles and agrees, but then, despite her terrible cooking, she volunteers to make all of Bai Ning's meals. After all, she doesn't need to eat herself.
For Bai Ning, the new arrival, the zombies nearby are all forced to put on foundation, their faces made unnaturally pale.
Standing before the "doctor," Bai Ning laughs and speaks hesitantly.
"Their injuries are so distinctive."
"A doctor can't just stand by and let people die, can she?" Xiao Wan says with an ominous smile.
Xiao Wan can't drive off Bai Ning, the research-obsessed madwoman, so the woman and the zombie can only put on their full-of-holes act for each other every day.
Until Xiao Wan is injured, and Bai Ning stands before her, her concern utterly genuine.
"Don't be afraid. I'm a doctor..."
Before Xiao Wan can feel touched, Bai Ning personally sends her into the laboratory.
She knew it. Bai Ning is a wolf that can't be tamed, not some delicate flower raised in a greenhouse.
Xiao Wan watches Bai Ning's retreating back, without a trace of fear on her face, and speaks.
"So you're starting to get back at me now?"
Bai Ning doesn't dare turn around. Her voice is icy, but there's no sign of disgust.
"Yes. Your cooking is awful, and I've had enough."
With humanity's survival at stake, they come asking Xiao Wan for help once again.
Xiao Wan points to the figure behind the crowd, her tone provocative.
"I want her to go to hell with me."
Her aim is clear. The tenderness of the past is gone, like an avalanche sweeping down a snowy mountain.
Neither hatred nor love...
When no one else is around, the zombie who kept saying she would drag her to her death embraces her own researcher around the waist, doting on her.
"Wifey, I was wrong."
