[Opening on Halloween!]
Argo had always believed his power came from God, and he was determined to become Pope.
Until the year he turned eleven, when an old man named Dumbledore told him that he was actually a wizard.
After buying a wand in Diagon Alley and returning to the orphanage, Argo followed the book and used his wand to cast the first real spell of his life: Reparo.
Watching the paper mend itself perfectly, Argo was completely intoxicated by the power of magic.
He excitedly wrecked everything in sight, reveling in the wonder and might of magic, and losing himself in it.
This was the power of God! He was certain of it.
From that day on, Argo conceived a new ambition.
Argo: “The wizarding world already has a Dark Lord. So it makes perfect sense for it to have a Pope too, right?”
-
When Regulus first met Argo, he thought he was an ordinary Muggle-born Gryffindor classmate he'd only have to see for seven years.
It turned out that not one word of that description was right.
Not ordinary, not a Gryffindor, not Muggle-born, not merely a classmate, and not someone he'd only see for seven years.
He felt like he'd been scammed.

Bonus Scene--
Argo (furious): “Dad, is this how you protect wizards? You're doing a terrible job. Let me handle it!”
Argo: “Professor Dumbledore, I heard you defeated Grindelwald and locked him up. You must be able to do whatever you want with him and make him research all kinds of magic for you, right? I'm so jealous. I need to work harder so I can lock my dad up and make him serve the wizarding world too.”
Old Voldy: “???”
Old Dumbledore: “...This child is a little twisted, but not quite in the direction I expected.”
-
“Is God a wizard?”
“Perhaps.”
“Then why can't wizards become God?” Argo said.

Reader's guide:
1. A cheerful, bright, lively little yandere Slytherin. The story is told from the uke's perspective. Regulus is the love interest. Happy ending, one-on-one romance.
2. Voldy's kid, whose roots are crooked and whose offspring is dark (and who will betray his dad), keeps dancing on Dumbledore's and Voldy's last nerves. Might be a little chuunibyou. A huge golden finger, lighthearted daily life, doted on by everyone, and everyone survives.
3. Everyone is loved. No bashing Dumbledore or Gryffindor, no aristocrats or platinum blondes. Not based on the films, TV series, or stage play, and no breaking up canon couples.
The honor belongs to J.K. Rowling. The OOC belongs to me.
4. The spiritual leader of the Church of England is the Archbishop of Canterbury. In this blurb, “Pope” means the protagonist wants power on the level of a Pope rather than that of an archbishop. It is not a mistaken use of the title and has nothing to do with religious beliefs.
[1] The setting in the blurb, where the protagonist practices magic outside school before enrolling, comes from the original text:
“Are you sure that's really a spell?” the girl (Hermione) asked. “...I've tried a few simple spells at home, just for practice, and they've all worked. There's no one in my family who can do magic...” (Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone)
Blurb for the coming-soon title was archived on December 1, 2024.
Theme: Love is the greatest magic.
