When everyone in class hated instant noodles with chicken and mushrooms, he was the only one who firmly believed they were the most delicious food in the world.

Sang Qi: No way! A kindred spirit! I'm allergic to mangoes and don't eat fish, too!

Shen Yiqun: No way! My people! I don't like cilantro, either!

They even had burn scars in the same place, on their left sides.

When they found out, they hugged and cried, wishing they could swear brotherhood in front of the podium.

Their seats never changed, and they sat together for a year and a half.

Then one day, Sang Qi sadly realized she'd developed feelings for her kindred spirit that she shouldn't have. Looking at her deskmate, who was devoted to his studies and had no interest in romance, Sang Qi stared up at the sky like a salted fish contemplating the stars.

Shen Yiqun: What have you been thinking about all this time?

Sang Qi (soul out of body): My miserable future, stretching on as far as the eye can see.

[A few warnings]

1. They don't get together. It's just a one-sided crush, and feelings take up very little space. Most of it is everyday friendship.

2. First-person diary format, something like a memoir. Mostly everyday life.

The first time Fang Xinchun saw Zhao Yuchen in class, back in elementary school, she walked past him and thought, Why is it him?

When she saw Zhao Yuchen in her class on the first day of middle school, Fang Xinchun turned away in exasperation and thought, Why is it still him?

When she saw the inescapable Zhao Yuchen sitting in her class at the start of high school, and even at training camp, Fang Xinchun gave up resisting and said, Why is it always you?

The boys and girls who were close in class inevitably got paired up by their classmates, but Fang Xinchun and Zhao Yuchen were the closest of all. Even though they were always slinging their arms over each other's shoulders, not a single rumor about them ever surfaced.

Curious, Fang Xinchun asked a classmate she was close to, "Why is that? Do we really have no couple vibes?"

The classmate chuckled and said, "If you two could become a couple, I could go from the middle of the class to the top ten in the mock exams!"

Hearing this, Fang Xinchun gave an impressed thumbs-up. "What an ambitious person! Don't worry, my friend. I'll do my part to help you make the top ten!"

Later, the classmate still failed to make the top ten in the mock exams. Watching the two of them bicker with red faces in public, they fell into deep thought. "Am I part of your little game or something?"

Fang Xinchun frowned at Zhao Yuchen. "I don't know him."

Zhao Yuchen pursed his lips, turned around, and rolled his eyes. "I'm not close to her."

Their classmate: "At least let go of each other's hands before you say that!"

A romance between a bickering couple, a happy and lighthearted sweet story.
