(I)

After dumping Osiris's body, Set felt an overwhelming sense of relief.

But the feeling didn't last long. He soon couldn't remember why he had killed his older brother and dumped his body.

A veil had fallen over Set's memories, and he desperately wanted to know who was controlling him from behind the scenes.

Ma'at, goddess of truth, told him, "No one is controlling you. You were determined to kill your brother."

Getting nowhere, Set had no choice but to put the matter aside for now.

Back at the temple, Set discovered that he had suddenly gained a new ability: he could see a god from the future in any reflective surface.

The future god, who called himself the new sun god, told Set all sorts of things about the future, along with some gossip about the other gods. Set laughed so hard he forgot all about the trouble of having just killed Osiris.

Then, just before bed, he heard an absurd "prophecy":

Future god: "That's right, you and Horus will have a child."

Set: "Who's Horus?"

Future god: "Osiris's son."

Set: "Are you insane? I'm a male god!"

Furious, Set smashed the mirror and went to sleep in a dark chamber.

When he woke, Set found that his body had undergone some changes. He had gone from a completely male god to an intersex god.

Set: Oh no!

Everything seemed to be heading in the direction the future god had described.

No matter, Set thought. I'll put an end to that future.

So he snatched Osiris's body, which Isis had just recovered, and smashed it into fourteen pieces again. Then he fed the genitals to a crocodile. Let's see how the two of you are going to have a child now!

(II)

In another timeline, Horus smiled as he sat on the throne in the Temple of the Sun and watched Set go mad.

How wonderful, he thought. You were so full of life back then.

I love you so much. I'd kill myself for you.

As long as you stop seeking death with all your heart.

Egypt can do without the sun, but not the desert.

Neither can I.

The war with the Mesur gods caused time and space to overlap.

The past and the future merged.

Set suddenly acquired a long string of memories.

They were all about Horus.

Humiliating, painful, filled with resentment...

In those memories, that [Set] had threatened to kill himself countless times, trying to make Horus stop controlling him.

But because of a long-planned conspiracy, he really did die.

Horus went mad and slaughtered all the gods, becoming the one eternal sun, and discovered the secret of time.

Ancient Egyptian mythology is so obscure that the author has been crawling all over the place looking for something to read, and can only write it themselves.

But as everyone knows, derivative works with an explicit romantic pairing are the most popular on Jinjiang. This story has few readers waiting for it, so it probably won't qualify for a paid contract.
