After I Turned In My Work Terminal

When Pu Li was three, a fortune-teller by the roadside read her fortune: "This girl is no ordinary person. She has an immortal's destiny and is sure to become a god or immortal one day."

Pu Li: When I become an immortal, who'll be stronger, me or Monkey King?

The fortune-teller didn't answer, but at twenty-five, Pu Li, a shut-in who'd given up on society, found out: Monkey King had a less tragic life than she did.

Just after celebrating her twenty-fifth birthday, Pu Li was walking along when a terminal that looked like it had been made by aliens from a super-advanced civilization hit her. The terminal was convinced she worked for the Interdimensional Civilization Rescue Agency and demanded that she get to work immediately, saving civilizations across the universe that were on the verge of destruction.

Pu Li: Yeah, right. (She promptly turned the terminal over to the police.)

Three days later.

"Open up, delivery! ...Oops, force of habit. Comrade Pu Li, for the sake of harmony and prosperity in the universe, the organization has decided to send you to save civilizations on the verge of destruction."

Pu Li: Thanks for the offer, but I just want to coast through life.
