From the Bronze Age to the Cosmos

What's the most miserable thing that can happen in life?

It's not winning the lottery, treating yourself to a trip abroad, then encountering two vicious beasts fighting on your flight home. The plane crashes, you parachute into a spatial rift, and the chaos tide tears your body apart.

It's having a god save you just as your soul is about to be scattered, then send you to the nearest world. When you come back to life, you find yourself on a planet with a civilization like the Xia and Shang dynasties, where human sacrifices and killing people to cook and eat them are everyday occurrences.

And then?

I decided to kill myself so I wouldn't end up eating people someday.

But you're still alive.

When the god repaired my soul, the divine power left behind attracted a fellow countryman: a mentally unstable vicious beast. It parasitized my body and tried to keep me alive, tempting me with money, beauties, and power.

You agreed?

I refused, but it soon gave me a solar-powered machine that makes nutritional paste. The paste has no flavor, but it contains every nutrient the human body needs. Most importantly, it's edible.

Lucky you.

Not so lucky. It told me two groups of gods are fighting outside, and this world could be destroyed at any moment by the aftershocks of their war. It wants me to build a spaceship that can travel through chaos so we can escape.
