Female lead's perspective:

Greed is the driving force behind my ambition. -- Jiang Yan.

To climb higher, Jiang Yan worked herself to the bone every step of the way, eventually rising to a position below The Outcast and above everyone else. She even reduced The Outcast to a puppet. But The Outcast was so good-looking. Since she held the highest authority, what was wrong with sleeping with the most beautiful person?

Male lead's perspective: Nothing is more miserable than being forced to sit on the throne as the Jade Lord and bear responsibility for the country's fate when you have no talent for governing. Even worse, I can tell all the shamans are lying to me and trying to control me. If they wanted power, I could let that slide, since I don't care about power anyway. But they hold authority and refuse to do any work.

What the hell? Where did this capable workaholic come from? Sure, you're lying to me and trying to control me too, but since you're capable and willing to work, I'll forgive you.

Damn it, I gave you power so you'd do your job better, not so you could covet my body.
