[A new spirit story is now underway] “Don’t Underestimate the Widow of Kabukicho!” A spirit formed from the souls of the war dead made a pact with a woman on the brink of death. She gave it her body, and in return, it would avenge her husband, an anti-foreigner rebel who was executed, and her newborn daughter, who was taken from her. And so, on that day, Imai Yuki was granted a [New Life]. She met a fellow who also called himself an anti-foreigner rebel, and had just lost someone important to him. Yuki: What did you say your name was, Wig? Katsura: It’s not Wig, it’s Katsura!! The two of them began life on the run. Once Katsura learned that she had just lost her husband and was searching for her missing daughter, he took exceptionally good care of her. This made Yuki’s life as an imposter much easier. The anti-foreigner rebels: What do we do when every leader is more unhinged than the last?! * Ten years later, they returned to Edo. Yuki: The old Imai is dead. The woman standing here now is Niu Hulu Yuki!! I’ll crush the shogunate and avenge my husband and daughter! Katsura: Lady Niu Hulu is absolutely right! Gintoki: So, after ten years, how far have you gotten? Katsura: ... [They’re probably partners.] Elizabeth held up a sign: [They’re roommates, sleep buddies, prison buddies, meal buddies, and fellow anti-foreigner rebels.] Gintoki: Wow, congratulations on already reaching the ten-years-into-marriage stage. Katsura: ... * When Imai Yuki heard Katsura say that the Shinsengumi were the anti-foreigner rebels’ number-one enemy in Edo, and that an organization called the Mimawarigumi had recently started fighting them, she decided to go investigate. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, after all. Then she discovered that the Mimawarigumi’s deputy leader was named Imai Nobume. Yuki: My daughter!! Elizabeth: This is terrible, Mr. Katsura! Katsura: What is it, Elizabeth? Didn’t I say that as anti-foreigner rebels, we need to stay calm... Elizabeth: Lady Yuki has joined the Mimawarigumi! She said that she and the Mimawarigumi’s leader are a widow and a widower, so they can give Miss Nobume a proper family!! Katsura: What did you say?!!!!!!! Yuki: What’s wrong with me marrying Mr. Sasaki? Katsura: I can treat Nobume as my own daughter. I’d be a better father! Please don’t marry him! Her adoptive father, Sasaki: ??
