Single-Handedly Tanking Furuya's Reputation

Because of his naturally blond hair and dark skin, Furuya was rejected and bullied by his peers from a young age. On his first day at a new school, he was already prepared to fight anyone who judged him. Sure enough, things got off to a terrible start. Even the teacher ignored his existence, skipping the introduction that should have presented the transfer student to the rest of the class. Furuya had no choice but to silently find an empty seat. As soon as the bell rang, a tall classmate marched straight over to him and slapped a hand down hard on his desk. The big guy gave Furuya a close look. “Blond hair and dark skin. Never seen that combination before...” Furuya’s expression turned grave. He knew another round of bullying was about to begin. The big guy exclaimed, “But as handsome as ever. That’s our Catboy for you!” The other students crowded around. “Exactly, exactly! That’s our Catboy!” Huh?!!! Having suddenly lost his real name, Furuya’s little cat head ascended to another plane. When he came to, Furuya snapped, “I’m Furuya, not some Catboy!” Every student looked enlightened. “Furuya, right. We get it, we get it.” They whispered among themselves. “So Catboy’s playing this character today!” Furuya hesitated. Furuya grew solemn. Furuya couldn’t make head or tail of it. Was this some new form of bullying? On his second day at the new school, Furuya finally met the legendary Catboy. Ikuya Kanno and Furuya stared at each other. The whole class leaned back in unison. “Two... two Catboys?” Ikuya Kanno said, “New student, you’re sitting in my seat. There’s no one behind me, so you can sit there.” The other students were horrified. “So yesterday’s Furuya wasn’t Catboy?” Furuya’s eyes widened, and he hurried to his feet. “Sorry, I didn’t know this was Catboy’s seat.” During class, Furuya couldn’t help glancing at Ikuya Kanno, who sat in front of him. Black hair and eyes, with the classic Asian look. So why had the other students mistaken him for Catboy? Furuya was baffled. A month after transferring to the new school, Furuya was no longer confused. Because... Catboy looked different every day. Catboy could disguise himself! And lately, Catboy had become obsessed with the blond-hair-and-dark-skin look! Furuya felt a weight in his heart. Furuya was a little embarrassed. “Why does Catboy keep imitating me? What does the real Catboy look like?” He was curious. Ikuya Kanno replied casually, “Because blond hair and dark skin are charming. Besides... I’m not showing you. We’re not close enough for me to take off my makeup.” Growing up together as childhood sweethearts, Furuya and Ikuya Kanno naturally started dating as adults. His boyfriend’s frequent changes of face often came as a surprise, but inevitably led to plenty of misunderstandings. For example... The police academy Matsuda hesitated, then said, “Blond bastard, I’ll just say it. The academy doesn’t regulate your private life, but changing partners all the time is... really not great.” His other friends nodded along. “Exactly, exactly.” Furuya stared at Hiromitsu in shock. Hiromitsu knew the truth, so why was he nodding too? Hiromitsu, the sweet-and-salty sesame ball, looked back at Furuya innocently. Of course he was enjoying the show. The Organization In the space of a week, Vermouth had run into Bourbon on dates with three different handsome men. She fell silent. The bewitching woman sighed. “Bourbon’s honey trap really is famous for a reason.” ...The devoted Bourbon gave Vermouth a smile worthy of a playboy. “Don’t put it like that. We’re true love. I mean, each and every one of them is my true love.” He wasn’t lying! Even Vermouth had to admit that Bourbon was a scumbag. Another day of maintaining his character. Bourbon’s playboy reputation remained unshaken. Public Security Kazami hesitated. “Mr. Furuya, isn’t the sacrifice you’re making a little too great? Uh... your partner, or partners?” Furuya looked puzzled. “What about my partners? We have a great relationship.” Kazami started to say something, then stopped. Wasn’t that an awful lot of partners? He was genuinely worried that Mr. Furuya might not die on an undercover mission, but end up killed by a jealous lover! All in all, while his undercover work was going smoothly, Furuya’s reputation was in crisis. Reader’s guide: 1. Follows the characters from childhood to adulthood, with a lighthearted tone. 2.
