Blurb:

Fuyuki U has the worst luck imaginable: he always gets the wrong pull in game lotteries, and when he does, he has to hit the pity guarantee. After dying unexpectedly, he was bound to a Luck System.

The good news: completing tasks will let him come back to life.

The bad news: he's in the Detective Conan world.

He stared in silence at the items from his beginner's ten-pull: [Luck Buff x3], [Death God Buff? Semi-permanent], [??? Permanent Identity Card x1]

Would scratching the identity card reveal that he had become a corpse?

System: That also has something to do with your own luck stat, you know~

Suddenly, someone accidentally bumped into him.

[Ding! Luck +1]

Fuyuki U: That works?

But he celebrated too soon. Before long, his luck started dropping: -1, -1, -1, -1, -4, -8... until it reached -20. A robber suddenly appeared, not only recognizing him but also dragging him out to serve as one of two hostages.

Fuyuki U: ...?

-

To stay alive long enough to complete his tasks, Fuyuki U, who had never been good at socializing, tested the world's hostility while secretly exploiting every loophole he could find.

But the System's tasks seemed to conflict with the will of the world. Whenever he tried to do something, his luck plummeted, and he was hit with all kinds of backlash penalties for changing the plot.

Fuyuki U: Damn it!

So he had to deal with random incidents caused by negative buffs, such as kidnappings, explosions, and shootings, while staying on guard against backlash penalties.

Fuyuki U was exhausted, until one time he happened to share a bed with someone...

[Luck +10]

Fuyuki U: ?! Huh...? That's a lot!

He poked the cheek of the person beside him.

[Luck +5]

Fuyuki U: I think I found a bug that lets me balance things out!

Then... what about other kinds of contact?

-

Holding hands, hugging, sleeping together, kissing... After making their relationship official, Fuyuki U's luck skyrocketed.

But he knew perfectly well that it would all come to an end on graduation day...

As the death dates of his classmates drew closer, Fuyuki U, who worked as a liaison, received a secret mission and took on a new identity to become a special hire in the First Investigative Division.

With his new secret identity, he managed to change a key plot point... in a way that was less than particularly impressive.

But then came the penalties: high fevers, coughing up blood, damaged hearing, temporary blindness, and more.

Fuyuki U remained unfazed, until he unexpectedly ran into his lover, who was undercover on a mission...

In a dim room, the cat-eyed young man saw through his disguise at a glance. He gently pinched Fuyuki U's cheek, his eyes seeming to ask: Top host?

Fuyuki U: Let me explain!

Reader's notes:

1. This is mostly a slice-of-life story, with a focus on romance. There isn't much focus on the Red-Black conflict, so consider buying one chapter at a time, and stop if it's not to your taste.

2. Pure Red. Warning: the protagonist has terrible luck. The police academy group features heavily, and characters are saved from death flags through butterfly effects, but this won't be described in detail.

3. The pairing is Hiro (Hiromitsu), one-on-one, happy ending. Apologies for out-of-character moments, the jumbled timeline, and frequent revisions. Please go by the most recent update.

4. This is a beginner's freewheeling first work. Please be gentle if it isn't to your taste. If you like it, you can check out my upcoming novel on the same theme ^ ^
