[No choice but to plug my new story, How to Be a Good Dog. A workaholic office slave VS a suspicious emperor~ The blurb is at the very end.]
When Xie Jiangli transmigrated into a book, the story had only just begun, already setting up a plot that would end in a mess. He nearly blacked out when he was reborn as the grave grass of the shameless senior brother who died early in the book, which was basically the same as becoming the senior brother himself.
The good news: His original body had turned to ash, he could play the character as himself, the plot had no restrictions, and he cultivated the Heartless Path, giving him an extremely high position in his sect.
The bad news: He was a promiscuous bisexual who cheated on two partners at once. His romantic scandals could fill fifty carts with storybooks, and he was notorious throughout the cultivation world for murdering fellow cultivators and humiliating his fellow disciples.
The even worse news: One of the people he'd been two-timing was the protagonist of the book, his junior brother Xu Kongqing, a cultivation prodigy of the Heartless Path.
The really bad news: He had to stop Xu Kongqing from cultivating the Heartless Path, or he'd die.
Xie Jiangli broke out in a cold sweat. Three hundred years ago, at the ceremony where the senior brother and Xu Kongqing became cultivation partners, he'd stabbed Xu Kongqing straight through, then turned around and threw himself into the Demon Lord's arms.
Could he have been any more heartless?
Xie Jiangli: "Do I really have to do this?"
System: "Either you get struck dead by lightning, the cultivation world hunts you down and kills you, or Xu Kongqing develops a heart demon and kills you."
Xie Jiangli: "..."
Xie Jiangli has lost his memory, or more accurately, he has none of the senior brother's memories. On the first day of the mission, he immediately put his foot in his mouth.
Xie Jiangli smiles seductively. "Junior Brother, you know I don't like the Demon Lord. You're the only one I like."
System: Xu Kongqing's Heartlessness Level increases by one.
Xie Jiangli frowns. "Junior Brother, you're just as handsome as you were three hundred years ago."
System: Xu Kongqing's Heartlessness Level increases by one.
Xie Jiangli says helplessly, "I might as well be dead."
System: You said all of this to flirt with him three hundred years ago.
[Shameless, later unhinged bottom X cold, restrained, devoted top]
Important notes!!!!↓↓↓
→ My take on cultivation fantasy, with tons of original worldbuilding.
→ The story is told in this order: rebirth, transmigration into a book (flashbacks), then recovery of memories after rebirth.
→ One-on-one, happy ending.
→ The first time he transmigrates into a book, it's a gradual coming-of-age romance. After he's reborn, the top takes the initiative.
→ The author personally feels chapters 34-41 aren't very good. Feel free to skip them if you don't like them.

One day, Song Qingzhi transmigrates and becomes a court official serving the newly enthroned emperor.
The new emperor seized the throne through rebellion. He's brutal and suspicious, and every so often he has disobedient ministers castrated.
After half a lifetime as an office slave, Song Qingzhi knows exactly how to survive under an eccentric boss.
Faced with either cursing the treacherous, unjust emperor or enduring humiliation and taking a cut, he wisely chooses to be a dog.
Being a dog for someone so suspicious is no easy task.
He treats the emperor's troubles as opportunities to boost his work record.
He persuades one corrupt official after another to mend their ways.
When the emperor falls ill, he even tends to him without changing out of his clothes.
Song Qingzhi works himself to the bone, going from a lowly office slave to the most overworked man in court. Only when an old minister points at him and calls him the emperor's attack dog does he feel a little reassured.
But the emperor, whose paranoia is acting up, doesn't seem to agree.
Night after night, he summons Song Qingzhi to his bedchamber to test him in person.
After ascending the throne, Pei Zhi's first move is to eliminate his rivals and set the court in order.
But when the tip of his sharp blade meets Song Qingzhi, it is as if he has run into a stubborn rivet.
The man is more loyal than a dog, and Pei Zhi can't find a single thing to use against him. He has no choice but to order his secret agents to gather evidence of Song Qingzhi's crimes.
But the reports they bring back are so unexpected that they're almost laughable.
"Your Majesty, the imperial harem is empty. Lord Song has been telling people Your Majesty prefers men, apparently trying to slander you."
Pei Zhi: ?
"The day before yesterday, Lord Song stayed up all night and took on the work of three ministers by himself, preparing to sideline the former court."
Pei Zhi: ... I suppose I can tolerate that.
"Yesterday, Lord Song spoke at length with an old minister from the previous court, then spent the night at the residence of the General of the Cavalry."
Pei Zhi can't take it anymore and immediately orders Song Qingzhi to be brought in under guard.
"My beloved minister, you work so hard. Is there something you want in return?"
Having just finished dissuading a general who was plotting a rebellion, Song Qingzhi is so anxious that his mouth twitches.
"All I want, Your Majesty, is you!"
Pei Zhi: ?
Secret agents: !
Song Qingzhi: ...
The hall falls silent. The secret agents hidden in the rafters all wait for the order to execute the treasonous minister.
But the emperor's cold gaze sweeps over Song Qingzhi's tense yet sincere face. Suddenly, he smiles with ill intent.
"Since that's what you want, I shall grant your wish. From now on, you may spend every night in the palace."
He wants to see how long this sly little mouse can keep pretending to be foolish with him by his side.
Song Qingzhi, who's been earnestly playing the dog: ?
Later, Pei Zhi watches Song Qingzhi suddenly climb out of bed to revise memorials, and gives a bitter smile.
"Zhi Zhi, I really do believe you now..."
Song Qingzhi: "That doesn't matter. I just haven't finished today's work yet."
Theme: Find yourself, save the world.
Great, this is the end of the story. Every baby should be well [kissed]
Even dogs are bullied, hahaha
Ah, what a strange way to appear.
The plot of this chapter of "Lao Da" was handled a bit too quickly, and it felt like it turned a bit without explaining it clearly. The pace was a bit fast, and [Spreading Flowers] was not watery, but it felt a bit too brief, which led to the feeling that it suddenly moved to the next point without understanding it.
Teacher, you wrote well 🐰 and I have recommended it to my friends 💪
Alas, it is really a pity for Peach Blossom Demon and those pair of junior brothers. I've finished reading them all, and I'm going to collect new books. See you when it's finished.
I went out to relax for an afternoon, and I was really comforted when I came back and read this chapter.
You finally discovered it, I'm almost overwhelmed
That's it, is this???
Oh my god, I used a flashback method to write memories. The previous article was a real knife. I remembered that it was my junior brother who ate the candied haws, and I cried.
