Discharged!

Cong Zhilin is a well-known chief psychiatrist in G City.

After years of practicing medicine, he suffered one disastrous slip-up and ended up in the psychiatric ward himself. Before they locked him up, he screamed and clawed at people, saying there were monsters everywhere, the moon whispered, and nightmares could kill.

Three months later, the world changed. The monsters that killed anyone who touched them began to awaken.

And Cong Zhilin was discharged.

·

Cong Zhilin believes he's completely recovered. He's healthy and sunny, still the most beloved doctor in G City.

His good friend screams, "Old Cong! The sofa is eating people!"

The sofa grows a crack and sharp teeth. It would rather sit on people and crush them than have people sit on it.

Cong Zhilin smiles brightly, lifts his leg, and presses the sole of his leather shoe against the sofa. "Isn't that perfectly normal?"

.

A patient begs for help. "Doctor, Doctor... My face is so itchy."

Flesh writhes across his face, as if something is about to hatch.

Cong Zhilin uses a scalpel to cut out a few eyeballs, his voice still gentle. "It's okay. You've just got a few pimples."

Patient: "It still itches..."

Cong Zhilin cuts the tentacles out of the wound. "You have a tendency to scar, sweetheart. It's easy for the tissue to grow back. You'll be discharged soon."

.

"Dr. Cong! This whole world is full of monsters! Can't you see them?"

Cong Zhilin stiffens.

He holds a battle-hardened chainsaw and stands in the twisted hospital corridor. His expression shifts from uncertainty to a healthy, sunny smile. "Don't lie to me. I've already been discharged."

"Don't think you can lock me up again!"

.

Gradually, no one says Dr. Cong isn't normal anymore.

Cong Zhilin is very pleased.

He's even willing to take in patients who don't want to be discharged, though he doesn't understand them.

It's just that people keep saying, "Dr. Cong, isn't there something wrong with your partner?"

Cong Zhilin answers them: His partner is gentle and considerate, flexible, physically fit, unmarried and without children, mentally sound, passed his premarital health check, and has no contagious diseases.

"But... Doctor, is your partner even human?"

Cong Zhilin takes the chainsaw offered by a pure white tentacle. "Of course my baby is human."

The chainsaw starts up.

"Y-yes... Your partner is really handsome!"

"Discharged!"
