At thirty, Lin Yan had yet to become a great mage when he first awakened as an incubus.
He taught at a little-known magic academy. It was summer break, so he returned to his rural hometown and drank Chinese herbal medicine every day to nurse his health.
Only a few days into the holiday, a distant relative he barely knew brought over a teenage boy and asked him to tutor him.
On the first day of tutoring, the boy stubbornly declared, "Have you heard of the legendary magic academy? I'm going to get in!"
Lin Yan shook his head and said gently, "Magic doesn't exist. You'd better focus on the subjects in front of you."
Who could have guessed that the boy would sneak a pirated magic book late at night and accidentally draw a summoning circle?
The nearest incubus was summoned straight to him.
Lin Yan: ?
If anyone found out he was an incubus, his teaching career would be over. That was what Lin Yan thought.
He undid his buttons and put on a flirtatious, mean smile. "An incubus takes the face of the person you desire. I didn't expect you to be that sort of person, lusting after your tutor."
"Disgusting."
His magic swirled with a seductive fragrance. His clothes in disarray, he sat on the edge of the bed, one foot pinning the boy to the floor.
He put on an attitude guaranteed to earn a terrible review, haughty and cold. "A useless weakling like you thinks you're worthy of summoning me?"
As expected, the boy flushed with anger.
He still hadn't figured out that his meek, herbal-medicine-drinking tutor was an incubus.
Lin Yan breathed a sigh of relief. That is, until he was summoned again a few days later.
The boy said, "I've gotten stronger. I'm going to get into the magic academy. You're my familiar, so teach me magic."
Lin Yan: "..." He actually had some talent.
He took a deep breath, his tail swishing impatiently, and shot the boy a sidelong glance. "Do you know the academy's entrance requirements? They don't accept students with bad grades."
And so, by day, he taught the regular subjects in a mild and friendly manner. At night, whenever he was summoned, he berated the boy with a terrible attitude, humiliating him and telling him to get back to studying.
"Your math is so awful. You know you need to go to grad school for a magic major, right?"
"Those skinny arms and legs. Haven't you heard that mages fight in close combat these days?"
"And you dare have improper thoughts about your teacher? Heh..."
He was definitely the meanest incubus in history.
When the holidays ended, he left behind a nephew who loved studying so much he'd get nosebleeds and keep right on going, then went on his way.
He set up a barrier and stopped answering the boy's summons.
Until the magic barrier was breached and he was forcibly summoned.
"Why won't you answer me? Is it because I didn't pay you?" The boy held him tightly. They hadn't seen each other in a while, and the boy had grown taller and more muscular. Lin Yan couldn't break free.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry... This time, I'll pay you enough." His gaze licked over Lin Yan, thick with obsessive madness, as he murmured, "Teacher, you've taught me so much."
"Will you keep teaching me?"
Lin Yan: "..."
What exactly had you learned?!
Theme: Love of learning.
