Mistaken by the Young Marquis for His Brother-in-Law's Mistress

At the request of his hopeless younger sister, Xie Weishou goes to seduce his brother-in-law's little lover, who is being kept in Hutou Alley.

According to rumor, the little lover is the cousin of his brother-in-law, Qin Zhong.

His sister asks him to win the woman over, let Qin Zhong see her vanity, fickleness, and shamelessness, then dump her in the cruelest way and humiliate her in public so she can never hold her head high again.

Xie Wei thinks there's no need to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut. He's the second young master of the prestigious Qingyuan Marquis's Estate, handsome and elegant.

If he simply showed up and spent a few thousand taels, what woman wouldn't fall at his feet, dazzled by his fine clothes?

He carefully laid his plans, engineered several chance encounters, bought every empty house on half the street so he could be neighbors with Gan Xueyu, and repeatedly came to her aid when she was in trouble.

His efforts paid off. Two months later, someone had indeed fallen at his feet.

He had fallen at Gan Xueyu's feet.

Xueyu is the best woman in the world. Meeting her must have been fate.

Although she hasn't accepted his feelings or given him an official status, he believes that if he perseveres, she'll come to love him.

But their dreamlike days didn't last long. His sister came barging in and confronted Gan Xueyu face-to-face.

His identity was exposed without warning. She found out that the only reason he'd approached her at first was because of his sister.

She gave him a distant glance and tossed into the wastebasket the five-colored cord she'd spent three days making, originally meant as a gift for him.

"I'm just a nobody, yet two noble people went to all this trouble to make a fool of me. What an honor."

Xie Wei nearly fainted on the spot.

Reader's Guide:

The heroine isn't the cousin's little lover. It's a misunderstanding. She's simply a woman with a seductive appearance who's actually honest and proper.

Even honest people bare their teeth when they're furious.
