After the HE, the Male Lead Said He Never Loved Me

Zhuang Li recalled everything that had happened since she first met Xie Zhihan. It had all been as beautiful as a storybook tale.

Xie Zhihan was a gifted young nobleman, yet he fell in love with her at first sight and gave her everything he had.

Everyone in the capital knew that Miss Zhuang was Mr. Xie's most precious treasure, and that she mustn't be harmed in the slightest.

Until their wedding night, when everything changed.

Xie Zhihan split the matching jade pendants that had bound them together with a single sword stroke. Not a trace of tenderness remained in his eyes as he looked at her.

He told her that the two of them were the male and female leads in a storybook. Until that night, the plot had controlled him, leaving him no freedom.

He loathed being forced by the plot to love her and indulge her tiresome girlish fancies.

She had consumed his life, forcing him to play out a ridiculous romance with her.

And their wedding night was the story's happy ending.

The story was over. He no longer had to be controlled by anything.

From that moment on, he could finally act as he pleased.

So on their wedding night, Zhuang Li was moved to a remote country estate, where she never again heard a kind word from him.

All she received was endless coldness and neglect, reminding her again and again that he had never truly loved her.

She wanted to leave, and tried for a long time, but in the end she couldn't get away.

During a chaotic incident, she became trapped in a fire and sent someone to beg him for help.

But even after the estate had burned to the ground, he never came.

By sheer luck, Zhuang Li survived. She faked her death and escaped, finally winning her freedom.

She learned that on the day of the fire, he had received her plea for help, but had gone to save his childhood friend instead.

After hearing the whole story, Zhuang Li smiled, left the past behind, and went to live in Yunzhou, a place she had always longed to see.

No one accused her anymore of enjoying things she didn't deserve. She cast off every burden and lived well.

She thought that after hearing of her death, Xie Zhihan must have been happier than before, too.

After all, he had hated her so much.

When she unexpectedly saw him again, Zhuang Li panicked. She feared that if he saw she was still alive, he would be so unsatisfied that he'd take her life himself.

He did indeed rush toward her like a madman and hold her tightly in his arms.

No matter how desperately she beat at him, he wouldn't let go.
