The Rebellious Little Fat Bird's Handbook for Caring for Its Frail, Powerful Master

Pei Yan was gravely ill, and an expert advised that something festive was needed to bring him good fortune.

A little tree sparrow disguised itself as a magpie and became his lucky charm.

Pei Yan's health improved, though every morning he woke with half his face numb. He wondered how the little bird was bringing him good fortune.

One night, he stayed up to observe it in secret. Suddenly, his cheek stung.

The bird pecked his face with its sharp little beak, muttering, "One peck... another... and one last peck..."

The man who should have had little time left miraculously recovered. He attended a banquet with a magnificent, round, snow-white little bird perched on his shoulder.

The room, which had been full of whispers, fell abruptly silent. No one dared speak.

The little bird proudly wiggled its claws and whispered in his ear, "See? They're afraid of me. With me here, no one will dare bully you."

In a secluded side room, the round, snow-white little bird transformed into a handsome young man. The cowlick on his head curled as he held Pei Yan's face and pecked all over it. "I'm here to love you."

He earnestly offered him a bug.

Pei Yan: "...You don't have to love me quite that much."
