Half a year into their marriage, Wen Yiyi saw her nominal husband again.
At the time, Zhou Ruxu had just returned from abroad. The eldest son of the Zhou family, admired by everyone, had taken charge of the group at a young age.
She, meanwhile, had just ended a disastrous business partnership. Shivering with her arms wrapped around herself, she was waiting for a car by the roadside.
The man who stepped out of the car wore a crisp suit, his manner refined and restrained.
Wen Yiyi instinctively stepped back half a pace and looked up into his dark, fathomless eyes.
The next moment, a suit jacket carrying the scent of snowy fir settled over her shoulders.
“Are you afraid of me?”

Wen Yiyi knew she wasn't very good at taking care of herself.
When work got busy, her meals became irregular. At home, she often forgot to put on shoes and walked barefoot across the floor. When she got sick, she was used to toughing it out alone in silence.
So Zhou Ruxu gave her three rules.
First, fill out the feedback form for the private chef he hired once a week.
Second, check in every day to show that she was wearing her shoes properly, and she'd earn a little teddy bear as a reward.
Third, call him if anything happened.
Wen Yiyi was silent for a while. “What if you're busy, or having a bad day, or we've had a fight...”
As she lowered her eyes and spoke softly,
Zhou Ruxu was crouching in front of her, his slender fingers supporting her cool, pale foot as he slipped on her cotton slipper.
The man frowned slightly. “You're my wife, at least in name.”
“I'll find a way to get to your side as soon as I can.”
As if he were describing an ordinary duty he had to fulfill as her husband.

As it happened, the marriage had been arranged by Old Master Zhou out of an old friendship. All the people close to him knew that Zhou Ruxu hadn't paid much attention to the fact that he now had a wife.
That is, until one day, someone saw him picking up his wife after work.
The man, usually distant and restrained, held an out-of-print teddy bear half a meter tall and gently coaxed the woman in his arms, an unusual tenderness in his voice.
Later, Wen Yiyi called to ask if he would come back to their room that night. When she softly admitted that she missed him, she panicked and hung up.
That very night, Zhou Ruxu hurried home and carried her into their room, one arm around her waist.
“Does my wife no longer need me to fulfill my marital duties tonight?”
