Airheaded good-for-nothing Shizun gong x grumpy, stubborn disciple shou
Liu Nanzhou had been stubborn and tongue-tied since childhood, and nobody liked him. So when his family was too poor to afford food, his parents decisively abandoned him as a burden.
Luckily, there was still a way forward. An elderly cultivator saved him and brought him back to the Tianyao Sect.
He thought that from then on he would cultivate, train, and reach the pinnacle of life. Instead, he went back to basics and started growing vegetables.
Liu Nanzhou: ...Well, this is certainly a down-to-earth life.
And then there was his cheap Shizun, who couldn't even fly on a sword. He did nothing all day, was awful at cultivation, had an extraordinary talent for getting into trouble, and had nothing going for him except his face and his nonstop chatter.
Qi Wuyu: Xiaozhou, I don't think the sweet potatoes you grew this year taste as good as last year's.
Liu Nanzhou expressionlessly shoved a sweet potato into his mouth. “Eat. Stop complaining.”
Qi Wuyu cried out in dismay. “What? Now you won't even let me speak!”
Liu Nanzhou gave him an eye roll.
Qi Wuyu was baffled. He was so cheerful, outgoing, and lovable. How had he ended up raising such a taciturn disciple?
Who would ever like someone so quiet?
Well... he would.
What was he supposed to do? A Shizun having improper thoughts about his disciple was practically “beastly,” wasn't it?
Qi Wuyu kept those unspeakable little feelings under tight wraps, putting on the appearance of a gentleman while secretly acting like a sly old fox.
He didn't know how other masters and disciples got along, so he carefully kept things within bounds.
Having feelings was truly tormenting.
Then, by chance, Qi Wuyu caught a glimpse of Liu Nanzhou's inner demon. It had a face exactly like his own.
Qi Wuyu was aghast. “What is going on?”
He'd been keeping it bottled up all this time, and he never said he had an inner demon!
Liu Nanzhou stared straight at him.
Qi Wuyu: “All right, you don't have to say anything. It's my fault.”
Liu Nanzhou: “Hm?”
Qi Wuyu was filled with regret. Looking at Liu Nanzhou's eyes, red as if they might bleed, he grabbed his wrist and leaned closer. “You'd rather bottle it up until you developed an inner demon than tell me? Could that inner demon possibly know how to treat you better than I do?”
Liu Nanzhou looked up at him. “How are you any better than me?”
Qi Wuyu had no face to criticize anyone else. “It's your Shizun's fault. If I'd known, I should have tied you up long ago.”
Liu Nanzhou: “Hm?”
Is that right?
