Deep Understanding

Born in a small mountain village, Ying Dong had resigned herself to a bleak fate: being "bought" with an exorbitant bride price. Then, by chance, she found a bright road to the future.

That early summer, she saved Ren Yuli, and she saved herself.

When they met again, Ying Dong and Ren Yuli had already been university classmates for over a year, but Ying Dong had never once approached her.

In Ying Dong's heart, Ren Yuli was so far above her, so utterly out of reach. Ying Dong was only mud in a low-lying ditch, gazing up at the bright moon hanging high above. But when she truly got to know Ren Yuli, she began to feel that Ren Yuli belonged by her side.

The moon was pure and unsullied, yet it had chosen to shine down into her little ditch, making her glimmer and shine.

At twenty, Ren Yuli was beautiful and wealthy. Though she seemed cool and distant, she was always courteous and polite.

Her studies and life were going smoothly, but one thing had always troubled her. Watching her classmates get into relationships as easily as taking a drink of water, she found herself feeling trapped and miserable whenever someone pursued her. She wished she could make them all disappear.

This had gone on for years. At first, she thought she simply wasn't interested, but later she realized there was something wrong with her mental health.

She had seen many therapists, and they had all advised her to give it a try, and if men didn't work, to try women instead.

Ren Yuli had only laughed. Women didn't work either.

The mere thought of doing that sort of thing filled her with disgust and revulsion. In severe cases, the feeling even became physical, and she would vomit.

Her classmates all said Ren Yuli would stay single until graduation, and that her future boyfriend would be an outstanding young man from a family of equal standing. But who could have guessed that this aloof beauty had already been keeping her sweetheart hidden away at home, spending every night in blissful intimacy?

All that psychological distress, revulsion, and physical reaction vanished when she was with Ying Dong.

Ying Dong was her medicine, and she would take her for the rest of her life.
