Rules For Raising Fox Clan Your Highness

A host of demon beasts live throughout the myriad realms. The various beast clans interbreed and unite in the hope of resisting the cultivators who hunt them.

The ancient Wolf Clan rules the four corners of the land, and every hundred years, it chooses a mate from among the demon beasts.

The clans all answer the call, rushing to send their prettiest young beasts off to be married into the Wolf Clan, hoping to win the Wolf Clan elders' aid in repairing the Illusory Spirit Grand Formation that protects them from the cultivators.

Yunju Mountain's Fox Clan is the Wolf Clan's preferred source of mates. Foxes are not only beautiful and delicate, but their offspring are also more likely to be born as wolves.

The Fox Clan of Yunju Mountain had not produced a red fox in nearly ten thousand years. Little Red Fox drew everyone's attention from the moment she was born. The clan had originally planned to keep her among their own, but the cultivators invaded and the formation's power began to fade. With no other choice, the Fox Clan sent her to marry into the Wolf Clan early in the hope of securing their protection.

The little fox Dongfang Kou is not yet a hundred years old and has a terrible temper. The slightest displeasure can make her faint from anger. When she learns that she's being sent to the Wolf Clan to be chosen by those big-tailed wolves, she makes a fuss several times, but to no avail. Furious, she escapes halfway there.

Having never left Yunju Mountain before, Dongfang Kou loses her way in the myriad realms. Fortunately, she's rescued by She Yun, a white fox from her own clan. The two hit it off, team up, and start a life together.

When their children are born, Dongfang Kou stares at the big white tail on one cub's true form and squints hard, looking puzzled as she asks her wife, "Why does this child look so strange?"

She Yun lies in bed holding another cub. Looking at the tail, which is just like the one on her own true form, she says, "Are you too tired?" Then she flicks a finger and casts a spell.

Dongfang Kou rubs her eyes. The next time the child's tail swishes, it has turned into a white fox's tail. Dongfang Kou immediately grins foolishly. "Yes, yes, I must have been seeing things."

The Wolf Clan follows a matriarchal order and resides on Jing Mountain. She Yun, who took a thousand years of cultivation to reach the Nascent Soul stage, is the Wolf Clan's Grand Protector. After helping her sister's child take the Wolf Clan chieftain's throne, she suddenly vanishes from the myriad realms.

Rumor says she has ascended, but no one knows where she went.

Then the Wolf Clan falls into turmoil, and She Yun returns. Her cultivation has reached the Mahayana stage, beyond anyone else's. After resolving the threat to the Wolf Clan, she returns to the loving cave she shares with her little wife, only to find that her wife and children are gone.

Dongfang Kou is dragged back by her family. When they see the two fox cubs by her side, the whole Fox Clan loses hope.

The Fox Clan chieftain, her grandfather, pounds his chest in despair. "How are we supposed to explain this to the people of Jing Mountain?!"

But just a few days later, the Wolf Clan comes calling, saying they have come to take the Grand Protector's wife, Dongfang Kou, back to the Wolf Clan.

When Dongfang Kou sees the Wolf Clan chieftain's aunt, her own "clanmate" wife who had been so attentive and gentle, and had never made her angry, she is so furious that she faints on the spot.

When Dongfang Kou wakes up, She Yun is standing by her bed with their two children. Her gentle face wears a touch of heartbreaking vulnerability as she coaxes, "The children are already so big. Why don't we just make the best of it and stay together?"
