Honey, Can't You Just Comfort Me?

Updated daily at 9 p.m. Fake step-siblings, older male lead

A spoiled, blind little sweetheart x a ruthless, devoted attack dog

Liao Niannian had been clingy from the moment he learned to walk. He found the kid unbelievably annoying. He was the mistress's son, born of a tainted affair, and he hated Liao Niannian, even though the child was always pattering over barefoot, wrapping his arms around his neck and kissing him endlessly as he asked in a muffled voice, “Brother Chuan, do you like me today?”

Liao Wenchuan always said, “Stay away from me.”

Liao Niannian's eyesight had been poor since he was three, and by six he was completely blind. The hospital said it would take a fortune to treat him. They also found out he wasn't the old man's biological son. That same year, the Liao family's business, which had only just begun to recover, went under. The woman ran away from the bottomless pit of a household, and his father was buried in debt.

The old man made dinner that night and said things would get better. Liao Wenchuan thought he had changed his ways, but the food was laced with pesticide.

When he woke up again, the old man had died from the poison. The pesticide had burned Liao Wenchuan's throat so badly he couldn't speak. The doctor said, “Is that blind boy your little brother? In the middle of winter, he ran several miles, begging people to help get you here.”

Though blind, Liao Niannian had felt his way along the main road through the bitter wind, stumbling countless times. He went home and begged people to pool their money to save Liao Wenchuan.

Liao Niannian's hands and feet were covered in frostbite, and he was burning with fever. He clung tightly to Liao Wenchuan and whispered, “Brother, don't die. Don't leave me.”

Liao Wenchuan stroked his head. All he could do was hold him tight and tell him not to be afraid.

He couldn't speak, and Liao Niannian couldn't see.

But wherever Liao Wenchuan went, he always held his precious boy's hand tight.

Years later, Liao Wenchuan was blasting mines and digging coal, becoming a real coal tycoon and carving out a place for himself in the declining North, surrounded by predators on all sides.

Meanwhile, a blind pianist appeared at a grand theater in Beijing.

During an interview, Liao Niannian couldn't find the camera. His brother snapped his fingers in the crowd, and he turned toward the sound with a bright smile.

In truth, Liao Niannian had run away many times. He had also wanted to die many times.

When he was little, he clung to his brother. When he grew up and realized he was nothing but a burden to him, with no blood relation between them and no debt binding Liao Wenchuan to him, he thought about running away. But Liao Wenchuan blocked every path, and the words he said most often after that were, “Stay closer to your brother.”

“Please, Liao Niannian. Don't leave your brother alone.”

“Your surname is Liao. It's the Liao in Liao Wenchuan.”

No matter who Liao Niannian's father was, from the day Liao Wenchuan decided to hold that child in his arms, Liao Niannian had been his son.

A little extra scene

As he grew up, Liao Niannian was always trying to leave his brother.

But the brother who had once hated him most could no longer bear having Liao Niannian out of his sight for even a minute.

To keep an eye on him, Liao Wenchuan hung a recorder around his chest. Whenever he wanted, he could switch it on and see what his little brother was doing from a first-person view.

Liao Niannian's phone also had to be replaced all the time, because he never hung up on video calls, which drained the battery.

One day, Liao Niannian's piano lesson ended early. He stood on the tactile paving, unsure which way the bus stop was. Just as he was about to ask a passerby, a voice came through the monitor on his chest. “Go right for half a minute, then wait by the road.”

“Which bus should I wait for?” Liao Niannian asked.

Half a minute later, a car pulled up in front of him. Liao Wenchuan scooped him into it like a chick.

Liao Niannian pouted. “I've never ridden a bus before...”

“Keep dreaming.” Liao Wenchuan pinched the back of his neck. “Don't go wandering off by yourself.”

Two little bitter souls working hard to make their way in life, the kind who can't live without each other. Both leads are ambitious. A story set in a past era, about building wealth. The romance should be sweet, with just a touch of bittersweetness.

The younger one is sweet-tongued but ruthless, and the older one has severe separation anxiety. He only loses his voice for a while.

Here's a lovely story by a friend!

My Husband Is Better When He's Younger by Yao Tianyi

Cen Mian had never really liked his husband.

He'd been the pampered young master of the family since childhood, treated like royalty. Even his slippers had to be lined with sheepskin. All his friends were rich kids from similar circles, because people from similar backgrounds were the ones who got along.

But after his father made a mistake, the family business ran out of money. Just then, Yu Ting came to them with an offer to fill the huge funding gap.

His only condition was a marriage alliance with the Cen family.

More precisely, he wanted to marry Cen Mian.

Yu Ting was something of a legend in their circles. He had started with nothing and worked his way up, becoming someone even the old-money families could only look up to.

Cen Mian had cried and protested. He didn't want to marry some nouveau riche bumpkin, but for his family, he gritted his teeth and agreed to the marriage.

He didn't like Yu Ting at all.

The man was always silent. He never sweet-talked Cen Mian or knew anything about the fine wines and luxury watches Cen Mian liked to discuss.

Cen Mian was furious. This marriage was a complete failure. He didn't have a husband who understood him at all.

Then, six months into the marriage, he was in a car accident and unexpectedly transmigrated back to his senior year of high school.

If he warned his father about the company's crisis ahead of time, could he avoid marrying Yu Ting?

Cen Mian prepared to start a new life, but for several days in a row, he dreamed about Yu Ting. Gritting his teeth, he thought that since they'd been husband and husband, Yu Ting was probably having a hard time too. He'd find him, give him some money, and then they'd owe each other nothing.

But when he found Yu Ting, the man was fighting another guy in a cramped apartment building.

His body reacted before his mind did.

Cen Mian instinctively threw his schoolbag at the guy and yelled furiously, “How dare you hit my husband?!”

Yu Ting couldn't make sense of this young master who'd suddenly appeared. He acted like he couldn't stand Yu Ting, yet kept treating him well.

He called him a country bumpkin in a nasty tone, but every day he made sure an extra meal was sent over for him.

Cen Mian calmly picked out all the vegetables he didn't like and gave them to Yu Ting, then urged him, “Hurry up and eat. You have to finish all of this. Otherwise, you won't have the strength to fight, and you'll lose.”

As he spoke, he couldn't help sneaking glances at Yu Ting.

Honestly, he'd lost all his chest muscles!

Tomorrow, Cen Mian would make Yu Ting eat two whole buckets of rice!

②

Fighting was an everyday thing for Yu Ting.

But now he didn't dare.

Because Cen Mian would scold him.

Actually, being scolded by Cen Mian felt pretty good. The boy's eyes would grow round and wide, like a cat's. Even when he tried to act fierce, he couldn't pull it off. He was as soft as his name.

Cen Mian lowered his head to apply medicine to Yu Ting's hand. Sensing that Yu Ting was staring at him, he looked up and met a pair of dark eyes.

He'd seen that look plenty of times before, though usually in bed.

Cen Mian was horrified. “Pervert! I'm not even of age yet!”

Yu Ting: “?”
