My Elder Brother's Little Wife

Fang Zhenqiu x Zhuang Yan

Zhenqiu was taken into the Zhuang family mansion at seventeen. The eldest son, born to the favored concubine, was sickly and needed a wife to bring him good fortune. Zhenqiu had an auspicious birth chart, so they brought him into the household.

Zhuang Yan was the second son. From a distance, he saw the slender youth with a mole on the tip of his nose. His long hair was tied up with a wooden hairpin, and his fresh, youthful face held foxlike eyes. When the wedding day came, Zhuang Yan would have to call someone like him his sister-in-law.

They said Zhenqiu had come willingly. His family was poor, and after seeing the gold and silver in the mansion, he was happy to serve the sickly man.

Ignorant, a little uncouth, all looks and no ambition: that was Zhuang Yan’s impression of his new sister-in-law.

Before long, Zhenqiu would turn eighteen. The family planned to celebrate his birthday and wedding together, bringing double the joy.

That day, Zhuang Yan drifted off into a hazy sleep, dreaming of Zhenqiu the whole time.

Zhenqiu said, “We aren’t married yet, so I’m not your sister-in-law. Second Young Master, he’s sickly and can’t have children. I can’t survive here either.”

The next day, he woke to find it had all been a dream. Drenched in sweat, he boarded a ship bound for France to study abroad. When he opened his travel bag, he found Zhenqiu’s wooden hairpin inside, the one he used to tie back his hair.

It was rough, cheap willow wood, like something picked up by the roadside.

A year later, he received news in France that his elder brother had died, and returned home for the funeral.

When he opened the door, his young sister-in-law was kneeling before the coffin, having just given birth and holding a crying baby in his arms.

He lowered his eyes obediently and called out, “Second Uncle.”

His sister-in-law had actually given birth to a child. But whose child was it?

--

Both leads are each other’s only partners. The child belongs to the uke and seme, but the seme doesn’t know at first.

There will be a second child.

Neither the seme nor the uke is perfect. The seme is rather cruel. (I wrote this blurb off the cuff, and will polish it later. Everything is subject to change.)
