A Persistent Ghost

For five generations, the Mu family has handled funerals. Their ancestors were so skilled that the Mu family took care of funerals and burial-site feng shui for dozens of villages across hundreds of miles.

By the time the craft passed down to Mu Qingfeng, he was the fifth generation.

Qingfeng was born under an unlucky fate, bringing harm to his parents above, his children below, and his siblings and friends in between. The year he was born, his grandmother died suddenly of an illness. When he was ten, his father died too.

The family had only one heir per generation, and few descendants...

This family took life and death in stride. At the slightest provocation, they'd invite both new and old ghosts over...

"I won't let you die. Even the King of Hell wouldn't dare take you." Mu Qingfeng had spent over a decade dealing with ghosts, but he still couldn't stop the most important person from leaving him...

[Notes]

1. The seventh lunar month is Ghost Month, and the fifteenth day is the Ghost Festival.

Yet somehow, the seventh month is also the month of love, because Qixi falls on the seventh day of the month.

2. Love can cross the boundary between life and death.

I love you because you're you. Whether you're a man or a woman, a pig or a dog, human or ghost, I love you all the same.

3. No superstition, only science.

No spells, just real feelings.

Finally, in this ghostly, love-filled seventh month,

here's a story about humans and ghosts, about love and also not about love.
