Wealthy young returnee and spy Fang Tianze

vs

Beautiful, spirited martial opera actress Liu Ruyan

Liu Ruyan, a celebrated Peking opera performer, specializes in warrior roles.

Fang Tianze, a young gentleman returned from overseas.

Though they had nothing to do with each other, fate brought them together.

Fang Tianze suddenly wondered what he would look like playing a dan role onstage. He was slender, sure, but not much shorter than himself. Could he hide the spirited look in his eyes? Would the way his gaze shifted be just as captivating...?

Liu Ruyan's expression darkened. His wineglass clinked against the table as he set it down. "Young Master Fang, stop making fun of me. Aren't there already enough people who take pleasure in teasing me every day?!"

With that, he turned and walked away.

Fang Tianze put his right arm around him and ran the fingertips of his left hand over the mole on his Adam's apple. "I like this mole. I have to be this close to see it clearly." As he spoke, he leaned in to kiss him.

Liu Ruyan pushed him away and said seriously, "I've been meaning to ask, hasn't your family arranged a marriage for you, Young Master Fang?"

Fang Tianze thought, If that day ever comes, I'll make sure Liu Ruyan can't bear to leave me...
