My Teammate Confessed to Me Before Faking Their Death

A demon lord's castle spy repaying a debt, illusion master, healing mage, seme (Ao Si Meng) × a berserker who set out purely for the bounty, master of slacking off, uke (A Qi Er)

As an outstanding representative of young healing mages, Ao Si Meng was appointed by the king to join the hero's party on its campaign against the Demon Lord. Along the way, no matter how severe his companions' injuries or how powerful the enemy's attacks, his healing magic always turned danger into safety and defeat into victory.

But no one knew that he was actually a spy planted in the human kingdom by the Demon Lord's castle. Having mastered the finest magic the castle had to offer, he was using the campaign as an excuse to return and report to the Demon Lord.

The other members of the hero's party could never have guessed that healing magic was not his specialty at all. He was an illusionist, able to make people believe their wounds had healed and their poisons had been neutralized. And the "enemies" who seemed impervious to his "healing" were actually elite members of the Demon Lord's army, sent to escort him.

He had thought that once he repaid the Demon Lord for saving his life as a child and recognizing his talents when he was young, he could cast aside every title and retire to the countryside.

The war once ignited by the human kingdom had left him with nothing. And he no longer wished to serve the Demon Lord and fight against his own kind.

Just as he was about to fake his death, the party's berserker, A Qi Er, saved him at the cost of his own life and confessed his love in a desperate all-or-nothing gamble.

His companion was always the first to charge into battle, so he was also the one who needed healing most often. Of all his teammates, he was indeed the one Ao Si Meng knew best.

But Ao Si Meng had never imagined that, through all those ineffective treatments that were actually illusions, this man would come to love him.

Still, although A Qi Er always charged in first, he was also the first to retreat. He seemed to fight hard, but was secretly devoted to slacking off.

Would someone like that still insist, "Please become my partner," after learning that he was a spy?
