The Sweetest Online Romance

As a top-tier star in the entertainment industry, Chi Xi has had smooth sailing, aside from being dissed by industry bigwig Lu Jingze. But lately, for reasons too embarrassing to explain, he has decided to secretly find someone to date online.

His eventual match has a mature woman’s voice. She’s quiet, loaded, and a little aloof, but otherwise totally fine.

Lu Jingze, a famous investor with countless film and television companies under his belt, can’t stand vapid, pretentious idols like Chi Xi, all looks and no substance. As it happens, he recently made an online friend with a little girl’s voice, who passionately speaks her mind and acts like she owns the world. Her fiery little-girl personality is just what President Jiang likes.

The kk chat app recently developed a bug: any voice message a user sends is automatically changed to a mature woman’s or little girl’s voice on the recipient’s end, without either person knowing.

So, a few months later, Chi Xi gets up at four in the morning to carefully dress and groom himself, while Lu Jingze opens his safe and stuffs all his bank cards into his pocket. Each heads off to meet the mature woman or little girl they’ve been dating online...

At last, the two men stare into each other’s eyes.

Lu Jingze looks at the “fiery little girl” he’s been dating online,

while Chi Xi sees the “totally fine mature woman” he managed to land across from him.

“…”

Soon, one explosive piece of entertainment news follows another.

The film company owned by bigwig Lu Jingze invests a fortune in a new movie, starring Chi Xi, the idol he once criticized as a pretty face with nothing else to offer, fit only to be admired as a decorative vase for the rest of his life.

Top-tier star Chi Xi is photographed by paparazzi entering and leaving a hotel with a mysterious bigwig. Three days and nights later, he comes downstairs on unsteady legs, supported by his assistant.

Just as everyone is lamenting how chaotic the entertainment industry is and fretting over the state of the world, someone reveals the cartoon profile pictures Lu Jingze and Chi Xi use on WeChat:

One little figure puckers its lips to the left, the other to the right.

They’re matching kissing avatars.
