Wei Ningshu has always hated the moral paragon her elders praise as perfect and superior, as if he were born to stand on a pedestal while everyone else could only bow before him.
And, as if that weren't bad enough, he was always popping up right in front of her.
So she played the good girl and acted sweet. Whenever she saw Jiang Yue, she spoke in a soft, tender voice, and eventually even took the initiative to draw closer to him.
Then, one rainy night, in the damp, chilly old house, Wei Ningshu looked at Jiang Yue's half-soaked suit and smiled. Whether or not she got to see him lose his composure in anger, she had already achieved her goal. But before she could utter her mocking words, she heard a faint trace of sadness in his usually cool, deep voice.
“Ningshu, could you please stop playing with me?”

After spending a long time feeling as if she'd seen a ghost, Wei Ningshu ran into Jiang Yue chatting and laughing with a wealthy heiress at a banquet. Furious, she fled the scene and went out to have fun with her friends.

“You described me the same way that day.” Jiang Yue rubbed her palm with his thumb, as if savoring a memory. “But I remember you seemed pretty satisfied.”

She suddenly missed the old him, with his exceedingly strong moral compass.
