Deadly Virus

[A carefree but stunningly resilient underdog who never lets anyone down when it matters vs. a gentle, detached, battle-worn top who cares for all and falls for no one but him]

In 2124, mutated viruses ran rampant.

To protect the people, nations around the world established bases and gathered ability users who could fight the viruses. Ability users fell into two categories, Purifiers and Devourers, who usually fought together.

Among the mutated viruses, the most terrifying was the highest-level Phantom Soul Virus. Those infected lost all color from their vision and could see only souls and emptiness. They died of terror within a short time, and even ability users were not immune.

Every story about the Phantom Soul Virus was just a rumor. No one who had survived had ever been infected by it. Or rather, no one had ever survived being infected by the Phantom Soul Virus.

Five years ago, the Phantom Soul Virus broke out, and nations around the world suffered enormous losses. More than half the ability users at the base died, including Wen Jingxu, the Purifier who had been the base's strongest fighter and its revered guardian deity.

The only person to return alive from that battle was Wen Jingxu's teammate, Yu Chi, the base's strongest Devourer. He could devour viruses scattered over a wide area, and his purification ability was exceptionally potent. His ability to clear viruses alone far exceeded that of teams made up of multiple other Purifiers and Devourers. After he returned, he became the new pillar of the base, protecting its people and territory.

Five years later, the Phantom Soul Virus broke out again.

Death had returned.
