After the Villain Interrupted My Fake-Death Progress Bar

Ji Lanqiu transmigrates into a xianxia novel as the male lead's doomed first love.

According to the System, all she has to do is faithfully follow the original plot, then die when the male lead loves her most, and she'll return to reality.

To get home, Ji Lanqiu diligently follows the plot. With her time of death fast approaching, she can barely contain her excitement.

When the villain thrusts his sword at the male lead, she leaps forward and fearlessly shields him.

At that moment, the bloodthirsty demon sword is just 0.01 centimeters from her heart. Yet a tenth of an incense stick later, its owner spits blood and goes flying, without even scratching her skin.

Ji Lanqiu reaches out after the villain and cries out through her tears, "No! Come on, pull yourself together! Stab me first, then get sealed away!"

The villain: "...Are you insane?"

The System cries out inside Ji Lanqiu's head: "Host, please hurry up and die by the villain's sword! If you don't die, how can the male lead find a replacement? How can the female lead make her entrance? And how can the leads have their angsty romance and make him chase after her?"

After hearing all that, Ji Lanqiu feels that if she doesn't die, it would be a crime against heaven.

With the male lead crying out in anguish, she leaps after the villain and plunges into the Demon-Sealing Formation.

One day, Ji Lanqiu and the villain sit together in the barren Demon-Sealing Grounds.

Ji Lanqiu pleads desperately, "Big Brother, please, just stab me! Didn't you used to see me as your sworn enemy and want to tear me limb from limb?"

The villain looks at her with disdain. "If you die beside me, your corpse will stink."

Ji Lanqiu perks up. "I can die farther away, in a corner!"

The villain gazes at her for a moment, then suddenly smiles, amused. "Since you're so eager to die, I simply won't let you have your way."

Damn it, why is this villain so contrary?!
