Kong Xuan was the only true peacock god in the world.
He lived a carefree, unrestrained life, picking fights with heaven, earth, gods, and demons alike.
Then, with the onset of the Age of Declining Magic, the gods and Buddhas vanished. When he woke again, the gods and demons had become things of the past. Now they lay low, while humans ruled the world.
A green peacock with tail feathers as gorgeous as his would be sent to a zoo for people to gawk at!
Kong Xuan: !!!
He agonized over it for less than two seconds before deciding to take the initiative. He would go work at a private restaurant and freeload on the food (scratch that)!
He'd heard it had an incredibly handsome, kind-hearted owner and delicious staff meals, making countless humans and demons yearn to go there.
But...
This private restaurant was so poor!
The owner was an amazing cook. The food smelled so good that Kong Xuan could catch its aroma from miles away, and he'd come running back to gobble it all up.
But the restaurant seemed to have been blocked from the world. Not only was it deserted, there was no trace of it online, either.
Even worse!
In human society, you actually had to pay a mortgage. The restaurant's monthly loan payments were so crushing that the owner could barely breathe, and he could only just keep things going by taking freelance work online.
Seeing how hard life was, Kong Xuan, a beautiful, kind-hearted green peacock, stepped up!
If dishes for humans wouldn't sell, why not try dishes for demons?
What about Feiyi, a two-meter-tall creature that brings drought? Cook it into Feiyi strips with a sweet-and-sour sauce.
What about Qin Yuan, a fist-sized creature whose sting kills? Put it on a skewer and deep-fry it!
And what about the Heluo fish, with its nine fish tails, that comes ashore at night to abduct children? Boil it in pickled cabbage soup!
Chop it all up and heat the oil!

Lu Ya was a human-shaped weapon working for the Demon Administration Bureau. Cool and abstinent, ruthless in battle, he'd guarded peace in the world for many years.
After retiring, he fulfilled his wish of opening a little shop where he could settle down. Then, like an old house catching fire, he fell in love at first sight with a bright, flamboyant, handsome young man.
Before he could make a move, his future partner showed up at his door.
His clothes were worn out, and he was a complete mess, like a little stray who'd just been in a fight. Only his eyes shone brightly. The first thing he asked was, "Want a wife?"
Lu Ya held back for less than three seconds. "Yes, yes, yes!"
·
To support his handsome partner, he took off his uniform, put on an apron, and launched the second spring of his career.
Business at the shop kept getting better, and the ingredients Lu Ya cooked with grew stranger and stranger.
There were enormous fish with ten tails, chickens with three heads, birds that could talk...
Every day, he'd cook and fight monsters. Every day, he'd eat five, six, seven, eight meals, keeping his handsome young man radiant and glowing.
Until one day, the gods and Buddhas descended, and chaos erupted across the world.
Lu Ya rushed to the front lines to save the world. His long blade was stained with demon blood, and monsters tore apart before his eyes. Forced to leave his partner behind, he went to meet his death alone.
But beneath the apocalypse, the sky was filled with green. The handsome, flamboyant young man looked at him with amusement, his gorgeous tail feathers winding around Lu Ya's wrists and ankles...
He entwined with gods and demons. Their eyes reddened at the corners, their voices feigning grievance while concealing a monstrous malice.
"Why are you running?"
"Darling, come kiss me before the sky falls."

Something major had happened in the Imperial Capital recently.
Mr. Fu, a powerful figure who ruled the Imperial Capital like a local king, had died. Rumor had it that he'd dominated both business and politics, with a hand in countless major events. Like an inescapable shadow, he'd loomed over everyone.
After his death, all his property went to his little-known spouse.
A frail, harmless canary who had depended on her husband for a living.
One after another, people flocked to the new widower, hoping to tear a chunk of his fortune away.
Then the little spouse appeared at the black-and-white funeral, dressed in black.
He was beautiful and pale, the little bit of skin he showed so white it made people's eyes swim and hearts race. His bewildered, downcast look at the funeral was intense yet fragile. His fair neck seemed so delicate that one could clasp it gently and toy with it at leisure.
He was Fu Yuan's canary, his hidden creeping vine, and now this hothouse rose had no owner.

Tao Zhi's husband was dead.
After his husband's death, the assistant who'd stayed behind gently took his hand, his eyes filled with an almost fanatical fascination. "Madam, please let me take care of you."
At the funeral, his husband's sworn enemy leaned close and whispered intimately, "You've already lost one husband. I can't let you spend the rest of your life alone."
His husband's younger brother knocked at his door in the middle of the night. "Sister-in-law, open up. It's me, your brother-in-law."
The assistant's strong arms around him felt strangely familiar. The wealthy power player's tone was exactly like his husband's, and his husband's younger brother's face was looking more and more like his...
Overwhelmed, Tao Zhi looked at them with misty eyes and reached out.
He felt like his husband had come back, only in many different pieces.
The psychologist asked again and again, "You mean your dead husband has come back. What makes you think that?"
Fragile and helpless, Tao Zhi covered his face. His thin body trembled as if it could hardly support itself.
Poor little widower.
The doctor draped a coat over him, but failed to notice the twisted, excited eye peeking out between his fingers.
Tao Zhi rested gently against the doctor's broad chest and said softly, "Yes. He came back after I ate him."
The doctor could no longer hear what Tao Zhi was saying. All his attention had been drawn to the soft body in his arms. Tao Zhi's words were like the cold tongue of a snake, whispering against his ear.
"Doctor, do you want to be my husband, too?"

The world-ending pollutant [Abyss] had recently fallen for a human.
Humans were fragile and short-lived. Every time they cuddled, it had to do everything it could to control its tentacles and stuff them back inside.
That was a little difficult. Sometimes it had to eat some unruly tentacles, wrack its brains, and come up with excuses for the strange marks on its wife's body.
Even so, it would put on its shell, play an ordinary rich human, and tuck away its unruly, hideous tentacles, all to spend an ordinary human life with its beautiful, fragile wife.
Even if his wife set fire to him and his car after his car accident.
Even if his wife ate his ruined human shell, forcing him to search everywhere for a new body.
Even if his wife was already looking for a new husband.
It would still love its wife with unwavering devotion, put on the finest human shell, calmly get rid of the trash in the way, and build a happy family with him.
That would be its only goal for the rest of its life.

Tao Zhi fell in love with a human. Humans were fragile and short-lived, and every time they cuddled, he had to hide his entire body and disguise himself as an ordinary human.
It was too exhausting.
He decided to find a new body for his human so they could share eternal life.
So he murdered him, hid his body, and picked out a suitable vessel...
As for the human's opinion? He'd get used to it, because he loved him~
But then there were the inexplicable marks appearing on his skin every morning, the prying eyes that always seemed to be watching him in the bath, and the unfamiliar passersby who looked more and more like his husband...
Wait...?
Tao Zhi felt something was wrong.
