Jiang Xunian is known to everyone as the "scar-faced woman." They all think she is using gratitude and obligation to keep Meng Shaoyu by her side, but he was the one who first proposed marriage.
After three years of marriage, she had grown so dependent on him that it had become a habit. She even dreamed that one day he might truly come to love her.
"That's right. I married her to get revenge! Love her? What a joke. How could I possibly love Jiang Xunian?"
Only after hearing those words from Meng Shaoyu with her own ears did Jiang Xunian realize that, to him, the love she had dreamed of was nothing but a one-sided joke.
She couldn't see through it or understand it, not until Meng Shaoyu personally handed her a divorce agreement. At the same time, the media reported that he and his childhood sweetheart, his one true love, had set a date for their wedding.
All her dependence, trust, and devotion crumbled overnight. With the last of her hope spent, she left without a word.
-
When they met again, she acted as if he didn't exist, taking another man's hand and telling him never to bother her again.
This time, Meng Shaoyu couldn't accept it. He swallowed his pride and pleaded desperately, but Jiang Xunian remained cold as ice from beginning to end. Even when he stood before her bleeding, she was unmoved. Instead, she turned and threw herself into someone else's arms for comfort.
Meng Shaoyu watched it all with his own eyes. It was as if a sharp awl had pierced his heart and twisted inside, the pain so intense he could barely breathe.
He was the one responsible for all of it. The thought filled him with regret. He was willing to do anything to make it up to her, but she wouldn't give him the chance...
Sensitive and fragile vs. proud and devoted
The characters are imperfect, and both leads are slow to understand their own feelings.
The heroine's face will be healed later. She does not get a new love interest.
One-on-one, both are each other's first, happy ending

[Secret Crush / Reunion After Years Apart]
Jiang Qian and Yan Lang were childhood friends, as their classmates liked to say. Jiang Qian knew all of Yan Lang's secrets. She knew that although he kept everyone at arm's length and crushed countless hearts, he had once fallen for someone.
The day after the college entrance exams ended, Jiang Qian saw him walking side by side with that girl along a tree-lined path. They were a handsome couple, perfectly matched. No one knew that at that moment, her own heart shattered too.
After submitting their university applications, Yan Lang pinched her cheek and asked, "Why choose a city so far away from me? Be careful, without me looking out for you, someone might bully you."
Jiang Qian smiled carelessly. "Who would bully me besides you? I can't wait to get away from you."
-
At a class reunion, someone teased Yan Lang with a smile. "How come Jiang Qian isn't here? We all thought she'd confess to you after graduation."
Another person objected. "No way. Weren't they always just friends?"
The first person said, "Of course not. Jiang Qian likes him. She always has."
Yan Lang joked around with them on the surface, acting as if he didn't care. Inside, though, his emotions surged, and even his fingertips trembled slightly.
By then, he and Jiang Qian had been out of touch for many years.
-
They met again on a snowy afternoon. The intimacy they'd shared as teenagers had grown distant and formal over the years. Jiang Qian stood in a dim corridor and tilted her head with a smile. "Yan Lang, long time no see."
Yan Lang looked at the man beside her. Jiang Qian took the initiative to introduce him. "This is my boyfriend."
Yan Lang nodded, exchanged a few polite words, and left. The moment they brushed past each other, the smile on Jiang Qian's face suddenly crumbled.
The man asked, "Your secret crush?"
Jiang Qian replied, "Shh, it's a secret."
[Bonus Scene]
In a bar corridor at midnight, Jiang Qian was pinned against the wall by a drunk Yan Lang, the two of them only inches apart.
"Qianqian." Yan Lang called to her, his voice blurred with drunkenness. "Why did you lie to me? He's not your boyfriend at all."
Jiang Qian was about to speak when he continued, "Since that's the case, will you give me a chance to make it up to you?"
Jiang Qian's heart raced. "Make up for... what?"
"All these years of regret." Yan Lang gazed deeply at her, took her hand, and kissed it. "Let me love you."
Cool and aloof vs. gentle as water
Both are each other's first love, one-on-one. The leads only ever love each other, body and soul, and the hero has never had feelings for anyone else.
