Le Chu transmigrated into another body, and had to give birth at the same time.
He woke up on a battlefield, surrounded by people beating him, with a baby bump that was neither small nor large. The thing inside him thrashed wildly. As pain wracked his body, he channeled spiritual energy and cursed, while also wondering if he could perform a C-section on himself right there. He had been an obstetrician for a few years. He might not have any tools, but he had the skills.
But no one gave him the chance. He could only endure until reinforcements arrived, hold on until he gave birth to the baby, or, more accurately, an egg, and then look at the wrinkly little creature that hatched from it and say with utter sincerity, "Are you serious about this face?"
The little one grinned at him. Le Chu thought, Fine. At least it's my own child. It can be ugly, I guess.
Then he discovered that the body he'd transmigrated into was in absolutely terrible shape. The original owner had been poisoned, then drained the last of his strength on the battlefield, and laying the egg had used up every last bit of his vitality. Now he got winded if he walked too fast, had back pain if he stood too long, and felt dizzy after using even a little spiritual energy. Yet he still had to maintain his cool, noble expression as he sat in the seat of honor and listened to his ministers bicker.
The only upside was that he had acquired a city, and there were so many spirit stones in its treasury that he could never spend them all.
And there was the ugly little baby at home. The little one grew more and more pleasing to the eye, and more and more beautiful, but he talked too much. Every day he chased after Le Chu, asking, "Father, does it hurt today?" "Father, why are your hands so cold?" "Father, can I sleep with you?"
Later, the little one grew into a young man, taller than him and ready to go to war. One time, Le Chu suffered an attack and passed out from the pain. When he woke up, someone was holding him. He looked up and saw a familiar face, now grown out of its childishness, with strong features, but eyes still shining just as brightly as they had when he was little.
As for the people around him... Some saw that he looked unwell and would stand guard outside the hall, saying they were on patrol. Some went to great lengths to brew medicine for him, then drank a bowl themselves first to test for poison. Some brought him all kinds of random junk whenever they went out, insisting it was a priceless treasure. Every one of these people was an idiot.
Le Chu complained about them, but when pain kept him awake at night, he would think of them and suddenly feel that life wasn't so hard to bear.
Fine. His body might be a bit weak, but his treasury was full, his son was devoted, and a few idiots were constantly coming up with new ways to cheer him up. Maybe this transmigration wasn't such a bad deal after all?
