Upright gentleman vs. wild and unrestrained
#
Xue Yi is the son of a princess.
He has a crown prince for a cousin, an emperor for an uncle, and an empress dowager who dotes on him above all others.
But he's hopelessly unambitious.
Growing up, all he did was frequent brothels, steal chickens and dogs, and generally get into trouble. He was always at odds with his father. It was a rare day if they didn't argue or get into a fight.
He loves fine food and luxurious clothes. He loves beautiful people and springtime pleasures.
He's also especially fond of his little bird, Zhi Zhi. Besides loving birds, there's another reason he treasures it: ever since he got the bird, he's been able to dream about things that really will happen in the future. It makes him unbearably smug.
Then one night, he woke with a start and threw open the gauze curtains. What kind of ridiculous prophetic dream was that?
How had he... ended up in bed with his cousin, the crown prince, a gentleman as pure as jade and as bright as the moon?
And his sweet, delicate fiancee had run off. His wonderful marriage was ruined, and his crown prince cousin was behind it all.
The nerve!
*
Worst of all, in the dream, he was pinned to the bed, forced to listen as his cousin, who had become emperor, made him admit his three "wrongdoings," one word at a time: he shouldn't have gone to the opera, he shouldn't have looked at beautiful people, and he especially shouldn't have ignored him.
And that wasn't all. After forcing the confession, his cousin imprisoned him.
Night after night, they made love, his cousin trying every trick in the book until Xue Yi could barely get out of bed.
Xue Yi: "..." What kind of dream was that?
Still, after mulling over how it felt, the first thing he thought was that it actually seemed pretty good.
So the next day at the Imperial College, Xue Yi acted completely out of character. Instead of sneaking a look at an erotic book behind his fan, he took a good, long look at his crown prince cousin.
Who would've guessed?
He really couldn't tell.
Could his cousin really be that crazy, and have that much stamina? He kind of wanted to find out.
Later, Xue Yi was thinking about running away while his back was breaking.
Of all the people he could have provoked, why did he have to provoke the emperor? Why did this night of passion have to go on and on? He'd only wanted a little fun, not to mess around with someone for the rest of his life.
But his cousin pressed him: "Huai Zhen, are you saying you don't acknowledge me as your husband?"
Xue Yi was close to tears. "...I do, I do."
If he didn't say so, his back really would break.

I was a proud and unruly young minister. Who knew the emperor would enter my bedchamber?
My heart remembers only you, my beloved. May your heart be true to mine.
P.S. A shameless playboy vs. a true gentleman with a benevolent heart. The recipient has transmigrated from the apocalypse, and his prophetic dreams are an awakened ability.
Theme: Love makes us better.
