[Scattered islands will eventually find the sea, slowly and over an endless journey.]
A possessive love story / an old flame rekindled / a seven-year age gap / the male lead becomes the other man for love
[An elegant, scheming old fox x a gentle, soft little bunny]
Wen Man hated how her childhood friend Sheng Xun was always making fun of her name, and saying that her slow, unhurried ways came from having a name that meant “slow.” She hated how he never kept his word and lied to her every time. She hated how he had no patience for her, yet turned around and bought candy for girls in other classes.
Wen Man didn’t want to play with him anymore, but Sheng Xun’s father said they were going to get married someday, and told her to try to be more understanding of him.
The innocent affection she had carried was crushed into the corner of a wall.
Wen Man heard a friend ask Sheng Xun whether he liked her, and whether he would get together with her if he didn’t. Sheng Xun agreed without a moment’s hesitation, dousing Wen Man’s burning heart with a bucket of cold water.
On her way home, she was distracted and tripped, falling to the ground.
Thinking back on how her friend and childhood sweetheart had always seemed so close, Wen Man finally understood. Tears filled the eyes of the usually gentle, easygoing girl. At that moment, she had only one thought: break off the engagement.
She pushed herself up with both arms, when a powerful force suddenly lifted her by the waist. Wen Man met a pair of cool, deep-set eyes.
He helped her stand straight, bent down to check the injury on her leg, and asked, “Are you Wen Man?”
The man looked somewhat familiar, so Wen Man asked in return, “Who are you?”
The handsome man’s eyes curved slightly.
“You should call me Uncle, just like Sheng Xun does.”
On Wen Man’s eighteenth birthday, the elders of the Sheng and Wen families brought up the children’s marriage arrangements. Wen Man instinctively looked at Sheng Hengchen and accidentally fell into his vortex-like gaze.
Flustered, Wen Man made an excuse to go to the bathroom, but in the hallway someone pulled her into an empty room.
He pinned her down with a firm grip. She looked up and met a captivating pair of eyes in the dark.
“Uncle, you’re hurting me.”
His grip loosened a little, and he drew her into his arms. “Now you know what it feels like? Who bit my lip until it bled this morning and still wasn’t satisfied?”
Wen Man’s face grew hot, and she looked away.
He pressed a knuckle to her chin, forcing her to look up at him.
“Manman, are you really slow to catch on, or are you doing it on purpose?” He rested his forehead against hers, looking into her bright, restless eyes. “When are you going to break off your engagement to my nephew?”
