Lin Cen's mother was the substitute in a melodramatic love story. When the first love returned from abroad, she was jilted, leaving behind one ridiculous scene. Lin Cen grew up shuttling between her parents' homes. She never lacked her mother's love, but still envied her half-sister, who was cherished by everyone.
She practiced the piano with all her might, hoping to outshine her sister, but that could never make her family love her more.
Besides, her sister didn't care about her at all. Surrounded by other people's brilliance, Lin Cen's little schemes seemed all the darker and uglier.
Because of her parents' arguments, Lin Cen was sent abroad to study while still in high school. The people she met were all kind, but she always felt out of place.
Alex was the star wide receiver on the high school football team, always energetic and always happy. On the field, he could catch the ball and run a hundred yards for a touchdown, winning cheers from the crowd. He never felt dejected or awkward when he fell behind others.
Lin Cen couldn't understand why Alex was so happy, and Alex couldn't understand why Lin Cen was always so troubled.
But he didn't want to see her sad. He hoped she could escape the gloom, too.
A hundred-yard touchdown: I run to you with boundless love.
Football player x cello student, sunny South American puppy x socially anxious East Asian lady
Set in North American schools, from high school through college. Artistic liberties abound.
A height difference, first loves for both. More details to come.
I've been obsessed with football for the past couple of years. There's plenty of football in this story, and the sport really is great to watch! Give it a try!
The male lead is a wide receiver. His job on the field is to catch the ball and run it to the other team's end zone for a touchdown, football's main way of scoring. A football field is a hundred yards long. A hundred-yard touchdown is roughly like kicking the ball from your own goal all the way into the opposing goal in soccer.
The characters aren't based on anyone. If I had to describe the male lead, he's the stereotypical happy-go-lucky South American puppy, not too bright. The female lead is an East Asian overachiever who outstrips him in intelligence.
Theme: Everyone is unique
