Snow Ashes and Fragrant Curtains

Shen Tang transmigrates into a work of unofficial history. At the time, dressed in a red wedding gown, she is seated in a bridal sedan on her way to the grasslands for a political marriage.

Unfortunately, before the marriage can be consummated, the Great Khan suddenly dies.

By the customs of the grasslands, Yelu Xuan succeeds his elder brother as Khan. To stabilize relations between the two countries, he is forced to marry the delicate princess from the Central Plains.

He glares furiously at Shen Tang. "Since you married my elder brother, you are his woman. From now on, be content to live as a widow. Don't expect me to lay a finger on you."

"Oh," Shen Tang replies indifferently, thinking, As if I wanted you to.

According to the unofficial history, he is a notorious tyrant, said to have stolen another man's wife and kept her hidden away, tormenting her day and night.

She can't wait to find a way to escape and keep far away from him.

They keep out of each other's way. Shen Tang comes up with new delicacies every day, and life couldn't be more pleasant.

When Yelu Xuan sees the greasy roasted leg of lamb his subordinate has brought him, he swallows his drool and says coldly, "Take it away. Tell her to stop wasting her effort. Does she think a few little favors will win me over?"

When Shen Tang hears about it, she spits toward his tent. "I'd sooner feed a dog than you."

The following spring, as the tribe searches for new pastures, Yelu Xuan calls over a subordinate and awkwardly orders, "Put the Khatan's tent next to mine."

Then he adds, "Never mind."

His elder brother is dead, and Shen Tang is now his Khatan. Naturally, she should sleep in the same tent as him.

That night, Shen Tang clutches her aching waist and glares at him angrily. "You have no shame."

Yelu Xuan shamelessly leans in to kiss her. "That's right, I have no shame. If I did, how could I enjoy myself with my wife?"

"Shut up," Shen Tang scolds him, blushing.

She lets out a long sigh. That unofficial history has done her wrong.

Yelu Xuan isn't keeping another man's wife hidden away at all. He's too busy clinging to her like an enormous, clingy wolfhound!
