Beheading the Chief Councilor

The day after the Yan family of Yangzhou was wiped out, Ji Huaiyu, the Minister of the Court of Judicial Review, arrived with a team to investigate the case.

He was an old friend of her father’s, and while he was at it, he planned to bring her legitimate elder sister back to the capital and raise her.

Her father wanted her to die in her sister’s place, but Yan You was determined to live.

The young man had a handsome, refined face. She looked up at him, and from then on, she passed herself off as her sister.

After years of care and guidance, Yan You was no longer content to call him Big Brother or Lord Ji. She wanted him to be her husband.

When Old Madam Ji arranged for him to meet eligible young women, he was surrounded by noble ladies. She was like a rat in a gutter, able only to watch from the shadows.

The next day, rumors spread that Lord Ji suffered from an illness, and all the evidence pointed to Yan You.

She tugged at the young man’s sleeve, eyes reddening. “If you don’t believe me, I’ll leave.”

.

At the request of an old friend, Ji Huaiyu brought his friend’s legitimate daughter, who had escaped death, back to the Ji family.

She was docile and sensible, never fighting for anything.

When she came of age, he would find her a good match.

It was only when evidence linking her to rumors that he suffered from an illness surfaced, and the past came to light, that Ji Huaiyu realized he had raised a black-hearted beauty.

In the underground palace of the Blood Shadow Sect, she had drugged him and tied him up. He vaguely heard someone address her as Sect Master.

She came over with a beaming smile, cupped his face, and said gently, “Your You knew Lord Ji had feelings for me.”
