A Reborn Young Husband's Mountain Life

Qiu Shi married the wrong person and spent half his life being mistreated. In middle age, his husband divorced him and threw him out of the house.

His birth family wouldn't take him in, saying he was an embarrassment. They even drove him away when he tried to shelter from the rain under their eaves.

The village's lame hunter came to ask if he would marry him.

The hunter, Wan Chuan, lived alone in a small house. He had no wife and no children.

With nowhere else to turn, Qiu Shi went with him.

The house was small, but there was room for two. They weren't wealthy, but they always had enough to eat.

In spring they dug for bamboo shoots, in summer they gathered mushrooms, and in autumn they picked fruit.

When winter came, Qiu Shi finally worked up the courage to sit close to him by the fire.

Wan Chuan never mistreated him. Instead, he gave him a home.

Qiu Shi lived out the rest of his life in peace. His only regrets were that they'd met so late and that his life had been so short.

When he opened his eyes again, Qiu Shi was back at eighteen.

That year, Wan Chuan hadn't had his accident yet. His legs were fine, and he was one of the village's best-known men.

Qiu Shi went to see him and shamelessly followed him every day, determined to protect him from disaster.

When the young men teased him, he didn't care.

When the elders called him shameless, he didn't care.

When Wan Chuan put on a stern face and ordered him away, he cried.

The next day, Wan Chuan came to propose. He said he'd never met a little brother who liked him as much as Qiu Shi did, and he wanted to bring him home as his husband.
