The Miyasan Next Door [Haikyuu!!]

The ace spiker on Inarizaki's boys' volleyball team is dating a setter on the girls' team!

↑ All the students are still reeling from the news.

Of course, the most shocked of all is Miya Atsumu, the twin brother of the male lead in the rumor.

"Shouji, when did this happen? Why didn't you tell me?!"

Miya Osamu: "? What does it have to do with you? Why should I tell you? I thought I was an only child."

Miya Atsumu: "."

On the first day of high school, Akina was assigned to the back of the classroom because of her height. Her seatmate turned out to be one of the Miya twins, who had been the talk of the new students even before classes began.

Still, a handsome, popular school idol like him would never have anything to do with her.

At first, the brash Miya Atsumu was more popular. But before long, the girls realized his temper was unbearable, and more and more of them started slipping love letters to Miya Osamu, the "nicer twin."

Osamu never seemed interested in that sort of thing, and he politely turned them down every time. For some reason, though, he'd accept homemade cookies or pastries and eat them.

Then one day, Osamu suddenly asked her, "Akina, can I come watch you play volleyball?"

(Miya Atsumu: ??? The best setter in high school is standing right in front of you, and you're going to watch someone else set the ball???)

Even when Osamu put his arm around her shoulders and walked across the field with her, oblivious to everyone around them, during the break before club activities, Akina still couldn't figure it out. How had Miya Osamu, who's gentle, thoughtful, a good cook, handsome, and an all-around volleyball player, become her boyfriend?

...There had to be more to it than that!

Only Akina knew that Osamu was so kind to her because he wanted to "be good to people" and wanted to be completely different from Atsumu.

Could pity... be called love, too?

Reader's guide:

1. This might have a very shoujo-manga flavor (meaning the writing style; of course, this story is one true pairing).

2. This is self-indulgent writing, and the timeline runs from high school into adulthood.

3. A man like Mr. Miya is husband material!
