My Childhood Friend Dropped from the Sky Is an Ace Outside Hitter [Haikyuu!!]

[Third-person narration]

On my first day at my new school, the volleyball team happened to be returning in triumph after making it to the national tournament semifinals.

As I was swept along into the welcome party the students had organized themselves, I had no idea what was going on.

Then, in front of everyone's eyes, the team's ace spiker, one of the "three great aces of high school volleyball nationwide," a famous figure at school, and the cold senior everyone admired, stopped right in front of me.

He was my childhood friend, Wakatoshi Ushijima, whom I hadn't seen in ten years.

The whole celebratory crowd suddenly fell silent, and everyone's eyes turned toward me. His teammates behind him looked at me with curiosity, surprise, and amazement.

He said, "Long time no see."

Me... as someone with severe social anxiety, I froze for a moment, then crouched down without an ounce of dignity and fled through the crowd in a flash.

If only I'd known, I never would have transferred from Rakuzan! And if I had to transfer, I wouldn't have chosen Shiratorizawa. I could've gone back to Hyotei instead!

In the end, I got together with that natural airhead who looked like a domineering CEO.

Even before we made things official, Wakatoshi's teammates always looked at me as if they wanted to say something but couldn't.

Later, when I went to watch him play in a university league match, all the volleyball players who knew Wakatoshi gave me deeply worried looks after learning about our relationship.

Then I saw a media report calling him "The Neon Number One Cannon."
