Asakawa Hotaru wants an ordinary, everyday life.
Though being a sorcerer and living an ordinary life are complete opposites.
Whenever she goes out to eat, she either runs into a murder case or a cursed spirit. Her missions are never-ending, and the higher-ups are inhuman.
And every day, besides getting into all sorts of chaos with her three classmates, she has to deal with the heir to one of the Big Three families, who keeps turning up like a vengeful spirit; a certain organization in black that keeps trying to abduct her in a sack; and a certain lolicon boss who has designs on her.
Asakawa Hotaru falls into deep thought.
Asakawa Hotaru chooses to solve things with violence.
But then, one day, she opens her eyes and suddenly discovers that she has reset to her childhood.
And her restored memories tell her that this isn't her first time through the loop.
-
After regaining her memories, Asakawa Hotaru reviews every loop in which she tried to achieve a happy ending, only for things to end in a tragic bad ending. She decides the problem is that she hasn't been villainous enough.
So this time, Asakawa Hotaru gives up on meeting everyone.
Instead, she steps on her own twin brother's arrogant head to compete for the position of head of the Zenin family, vowing to become the biggest rotten orange in the jujutsu world.
If following the rules and being a good person can't solve the problem, then she might as well be a villain.
With this resolve, Asakawa Hotaru decisively joins the jujutsu world's upper echelons. She makes connections with a certain lolicon doctor and strikes a deal with a certain brain-in-a-jar.
While playing both sides, she doesn't forget to revel in her own success. She manages to become bitter enemies with the trio from Jujutsu High, turns a certain bandage-wearing man into her sworn foe, and becomes someone two undercover police officers watch warily and avoid like the plague. In short, she commits fully to her villain persona.
After all that, Asakawa Hotaru is pleased to see that everyone's ending has been corrected. But there's a problem... Asakawa Hotaru looks at the Soul Gem in her hand and falls into deep thought.
Did she go a little too far?
But it doesn't matter. A rotten orange dying won't make any difference.
However, her classmates, who should hate her, along with a certain mafia executive and a certain undercover agent, don't seem to agree.
About this novel
1. Friendship-focused, with a dash of salvation and sweetness. The first half is chaotic, everyday life at Jujutsu High; the latter half focuses on saving people.
2. The heroine is very oblivious but extremely straightforward at first, with a blank, emotionless demeanor. Her personality changes considerably between the early and later parts.
3. The heroine is Naoya's twin sister. The twins are subject to a curse, and she is the one with weaker cursed energy, but aside from the flashback sections, she is powerful in battle.
4. Any out-of-character writing is on me.
