Chiba Yui had two big problems. One was that she had somehow become a student at Namimori Middle School, yet had no memories of her own life.
The other was the cute white-haired, red-eyed creature calling itself Kyubey that she saw the moment she opened her eyes.
The mysterious creature told her that every few days, she had to play a game. These included, but weren't limited to, murder mystery games, Werewolf, and escape rooms. Winning gave her a chance to receive a reward.
Yui didn't mind playing games, but she couldn't make heads or tails of the rewards and would rather not get any.
For one thing, most of these rewards dropped at random from the friends who played games with her.
So when faced with a sanity-blasting mysterious creature, Chiba Yui used "Shrimp Oil's Cursed Spirit Manipulation" and caught the attention of a certain white-haired teacher, losing a huge amount of money and desserts in the process.
Then, when faced with a certain black-clad organization, Chiba Yui used "Knife-kun's Deadeye Gun," and caught the attention of a certain bandage-wrapped man.
There were also mysterious rewards like "Pineapple Head's Illusions," "The Spartan Teacher's Aura," "The Head-Knocking Baton," and "A Certain Daddy's Martial Arts." In short, using them brought misfortune.
Chiba Yui, who played murder mystery games in her dreams every day, gradually got used to her teammates: a brown-haired boy in her class who was gentle and often bullied, and the popular, cheerful, handsome guy at school.
Sometimes people she didn't know showed up, even people who had already died. But after waking from the dream, none of them remembered what had happened, much less remembered her.
But one day, after a baby in a suit appeared, everything changed. Flames appeared on the head of her timid classmate who was always bullied, and more and more people began appearing in her games.
The school's fearsome disciplinary committee president; a white-haired upperclassman who was just as cheerful and athletic, and loved boxing; a silver-haired transfer student who looked like a delinquent and threw bombs at the slightest provocation; the strange pineapple head and the cute girl he'd turned into a pineapple head too; as well as a certain bandage-wrapped man and a certain white-haired teacher.
Even more frightening, they seemed to be starting to remember what happened in the games.
Good news: Since Chiba Yui didn't know whether a teammate dying in a game would affect reality, she often sacrificed herself to save them.
Bad news: Since she assumed no one would remember what happened, Chiba Yui felt no guilt about sabotaging people in the games.
Chiba Yui: Hey, Kyubey, am I doomed? You said the memories of the games wouldn't carry over into reality!
