Blurb:
On the last day before parcel services shut down for the holiday, Rong Sheng realizes that her request for a home pickup, submitted through an app three days ago, still hasn’t been processed.
She calls the courier responsible for her area to check, only to learn that he mistook her next-door neighbor’s package for hers and sent it back to his hometown. It was signed for just ten minutes ago.
There’s no doubt her mother will be calling to ask about it any minute.
"Sheng, there are no men in our family. What do you mean by sending home thirty boxes of men's underwear?"
Rong Sheng racks her brain. Would it be better to claim she’s dating someone, or admit she’s changed careers and started selling men’s underwear? Which would put her mother’s wild imaginings to rest?
As it turns out, Rong Sheng’s imagination is far too limited. Her mother catches her off guard by telling the neighbor he’s her boyfriend, the one selling men’s underwear, then calls him using the number printed on the shipping label, which had not been covered up.
"Hello. I have your girlfriend, and I have your underwear, too. Come to Shanghuayi Residences after the holidays to discuss the ransom for both."
Faced with such an obvious "ransom demand," the icy neighbor actually shows up. He gets his underwear back and takes a thoroughly bewildered Rong Sheng with him...
Coming soon: My Ex-Boyfriend's Brother Inherited My Dog
1.
The day Yi Wei broke up with her ex, Xu Yingchu, who was always cold and unfeeling, finally looked her in the eye. Yi Wei was certain that the guy was gloating, celebrating that his brother had finally escaped a miserable relationship.
Then, just as the two of them were arguing fiercely over who would keep their puppy, Xu Yingchu suddenly stepped in. With the unbeatable justification that he had won over Yi Wei, his brother, and the puppy itself, he smoothly claimed custody of the dog, all to make sure Yi Wei and his brother would have no excuse to see each other again.
2.
Completely out of the blue, Yi Wei runs into her puppy at a secondhand bookstore. She pretends to browse for books to strike up a conversation with Xu Yingchu, the owner, but he remains cold and immediately sees through her scheme to take the dog back.
Xu Yingchu warns her, "Yi Wei, I won't give the dog back to you."
3.
Xu Yingchu finally agrees to give the dog back to Yi Wei, but with one extra condition: he comes as part of the deal.
Yi Wei doesn't understand, so she asks why.
Xu Yingchu replies, "A puppy raised in a stable family grows up healthier, both physically and emotionally. It needs a mother and a father, but its biological father clearly isn't a good person. I think I can step in and do a better job."
Drunk, he’s even more honest. "From the moment we parted, the puppy started missing you. I missed you, too."
Later, while looking through her graduation yearbook, a worn envelope slips from between its pages. Only then does Yi Wei realize Xu Yingchu’s longing began far earlier than she’d imagined.
