Every Court Official Is an Ex

Bullied by his stepmother as a child, Song Jing had apparently long since learned to think little of himself, growing insecure and giving up on life. When his father, Song Fenglan, found out, he was consumed with regret. He divorced his wife and raised his son himself, but Song Jing still didn’t get better. As a merchant ship was about to leave on a voyage lasting several months, Song Fenglan didn’t feel comfortable leaving his son home alone, so he entrusted him for a while to a close friend who held a high office in Changjing. Song Jing entered the Zhou household, learned to handle documents, and began attending school. He became the refined young gentleman Linya of Changjing, admired by everyone. Later, remnants of the previous dynasty rose up and the court fell into turmoil. After many trials, the once foolish little boy ascended the throne, changing the era name to Jingming, meaning a peaceful and enlightened world. The ministers serving under Emperor Jingming had all once been his classmates and friends. A few of them had even shared several ambiguous romances with him. 1. The top is clean with everyone, including the cut-up versions of him; these relationships develop in stages early on. 2. There’s a growth arc, and things are a little frustrating at first. 3. A very, very slice-of-life story, all about the little things in everyday life. 4. The plot is based on research, but there may be inaccuracies, awkward transitions, loopholes, and bugs. They’re all necessary for the setting, so please don’t scrutinize them too closely. 5. I worked on this for a long time and read other novels in between, so the writing style may change as a result. Theme: Improve yourself and rise to success.
