I'm the Fourth Calamity's Favorite Little One

My creator was the wisest ruler of all time.

He ruled this land with impartial, ruthless severity.

Legend has it that after unifying the four seas, he overturned the sacrifices on a mountain that reached the heavens, appointed new gods to serve him, and gathered the greatest heroes in the land. He even made the dead return from Fengdu to the world above, so they could continue serving their ruler.

People praised his achievements day and night, but what they loved to talk about even more were his cold-blooded crimes.

They said he raised his first military funds by confiscating the possessions of entire families, took his own court officials into his harem, enjoyed finding lovers for his sisters, and invited married couples and sweethearts alike on his excursions. He even demanded a foreign nation's heir apparent as a eunuch attendant.

And after the realm was settled, he deliberately provoked his own brothers into rebellion, just so he could relive the thrill of conquering cities and taking land.

As the most beloved of his many children, I once heard him explain why he did all this:

“Following the rules is too boring, and as it happens, I'm what's called the Fourth Catastrophe.”

He had come into this world to seek thrills. He never cared what the people around him thought, and he seemed to have no worries at all. He was always happy, and easily bored.

Until the ruler left, I never realized what the world was like without his gaze upon it. The sun still rose and the moon still set, day after day, but everyone lived dull, dreary lives without the slightest change.

So whenever he liked or disliked something, it sent everyone into a frenzy of delight.

The Son of Heaven always thought people spoke badly of him, calling him either a foolish ruler or a tyrant. But I knew that the people in the halls of power and the people in the countryside held a remarkably similar opinion of him.

In public, they called him the Son of Heaven.

But in truth, we all knew He was a heavenly god.

*The Fourth Catastrophe is an unhinged, gender-unknown menace. Their morals are as flexible as any player's, and they see NPCs no differently from the code in a programmer's eyes.

*Mainly about the terrifying presence the Fourth Catastrophe represents from the perspective of the world's inhabitants.

Theme: Time reveals a person's true worth.
