Hoping to meet you in the second half of 2026
That night, a car sat beneath an old pagoda tree, its repeating license plate number impossible to miss.
The man beside it had sharp brows. He casually toyed with a silver Dupont lighter, and his dark, bespoke suit couldn't hide his rakish air. He cupped one hand against the wind, his head slightly bowed, a small shadow beneath his nostrils.
Feng Zhiwu naturally wanted nothing to do with him.
His deep voice said, "Want to make a bet? You two will break up soon."
A month later, in the pouring rain,
when she learned her boyfriend was marrying into another family, the man held out a black umbrella. Feng Zhiwu said coldly, "Now that you've seen me in such a pathetic state, are you satisfied, Mr. Xie?"
After running into him time and again, Feng Zhiwu still tried to avoid him, yet when she had nowhere else to turn, she went to him for help.
The night was dark on the terrace. Her phone vibrated.

It was another rainy night. A faint smile played on Xie Congzhou's lips as he snuffed out the flame with his fingertips. His large hand clamped around her chin, its grip terrifyingly strong.
"Wu Wu, you're something else, treating me like a dog and playing me."
That last meeting ended with them tearing into each other.
After Feng Zhiwu left, Xie Congzhou remained the untouchable young master Xie. People still flocked to him. He lived carelessly, drifting through one romance after another. Everyone said he'd had his fill and moved on, but her name became a taboo that no one could mention.
Years later, at a drinking party, Feng Zhiwu was still far beneath him, yet once again she had to ask him for help.
Plenty of people waited to laugh at her. Back then, Xie Congzhou had quit smoking and canceled his plans for the sake of his girlfriend, indulging her to an absurd degree. Now that time had passed and the moon in the sky had become a fish's cloudy eye, she still dared to return. Surely she was in for a brutal fall.
A man as proud as him would never take her back.
Yet plenty of people saw them late at night: Feng Zhiwu pinned against a wall.
Xie Congzhou's eyes had gone red. In a very faint voice, he pressed a hint of obsession into his words: "I've been hurting for so long. How come I still can't get you to say you miss me?"
-- At first, he only meant to indulge in a fleeting romance.
