Escape from Loli Island

A story of redemption with no romantic pairing, about exile and loneliness.

"Xiao Sha, desire isn't an emotion," Luerna said as she watched Sisha sleep.

Sisha suffers from narcolepsy, sleepwalking, compulsive overeating, repetitive behavior, and many other wounds. By the time Luerna found her, she was so sickly and frail that it was painful to look at her.

When Sisha turned her thin, gaunt face toward Luerna, she asked, "Luerna, when people reach the peak of wealth and fame, does desire really never end?"

On this island in a future research game, what counts as high class, and what counts as low?

(The story takes place after Sisha's escape, on a fictionalized version of the island from the future game.) (Short story.) (Sisha and Luerna are both minor characters.) (There are no underage characters in the story.) (There is no romance, but there is a helping relationship.) (Content warning: a small amount of gender transition content, but the heroine is not multiorientation.)

Theme: The absurdity of decadent elitism
