Thanks for Asking. I'm at the Police Department, but My Brain Is at the Black Organization

[The old blurb sat around for too long, and I ran out of ideas, so I've replaced it with the one below. Feel free to remove it from your favorites if it's not to your taste.]

Matsuda Jinpei, 26, is a star detective in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's First Investigative Division.

Recently, he started recovering some unpleasant memories.

In those memories, he was Brandy, a violent, erratic bomber with blood on his hands, who ultimately died in a fireworks explosion.

In this life, he's a police academy graduate and a star detective with a bright future ahead of him, surrounded by his childhood friend and close companions.

Having two sets of memories means Matsuda's thoughts are often a mess.

When his childhood friend hands him a can of sugar-free cola, his first thought is to wonder if it's been poisoned.

When Inspector Megure pats him on the shoulder, he nearly responds with a shoulder throw and a chokehold.

When Gin's Porsche drives by, he even feels like planting a bomb in it to celebrate Gin getting another year older.

Recently, Detective Matsuda has noticed his childhood friend looking at him differently.

Hagiwara Kenji narrows his eyes. "Matsuda, why have you been looking at criminals with such a cold stare lately?"

"Matsuda, why are you looking at that Porsche like you're obsessed with it?"

"Matsuda, are you... seeing someone else behind my back?"

Matsuda: I'm not. I haven't.

He's just trying to figure out whether he's a good person or a bad guy.

PS:

1. Hagiwara x Matsuda, everyday life, one-on-one, happy ending.

2. Out-of-character warning, written in a plain, diary-like style.

Theme: Grow toward the light.
