Fruits disguise themselves as animals and kill their hosts at night. Bloodsucking vines spread through veins, and their hosts drag themselves toward the camp with countless red tendrils trailing behind them. Spiders weave invisible webs among the trees, while birds nest in flesh. Trees steal brains, thorns stab up from underground... Everything in the forest is bizarre, steeped in chaos and distortion.
Meanwhile, deep in the heart of the forest, Lin thinks about the same things day after day: What should I eat this afternoon? What about tonight? And tomorrow morning?
