I'm an Otter, and Now a Mermaid Is Raising Me

Patient, obsessive merman top x clueless, carefree young master bottom (an otter at first, then a white-haired human)

Zhu Wupan transmigrates into a world of merfolk and becomes an otter that squeaks. He's forced into the role of a "comfort animal," playing a part in the villain's humiliation of a tragic, beautiful man.

Rong Zhu is a merman who has lost his most precious ability, his voice. After being mocked in public, he is given a "comfort animal."

In one moment, he accepts it with a smile. "My friend, I appreciate your kind offer."

In the next, he turns cold. "Then I'll take care of it for you."

Zhu Wupan is horrified. He said he wasn't sick!!

System: I haven't even finished my probation. You're on your own.

To save his own skin, Zhu Wupan reluctantly follows every rule for comfort animals to the letter:

[Rule One: Physical Comfort]

Zhu Wupan, sucking up: "A hug?"

Rong Zhu shoots him a daggered look. "When was the last time you bathed?"

[Rule Two: Be Self-Sufficient]

Zhu Wupan, moved by his own generosity: "He's lost his family fortune, so I'll raise all the sea urchins at home."

Rong Zhu snorts. "I haven't seen such an old-fashioned concealed weapon in ages."

[Rule Three: Listen to His Heart]

Zhu Wupan, now in human form: "Tell me your story..."

Before he can get an answer, he looks down and asks, "So, do merfolk give birth or lay eggs?"

Rong Zhu lifts the corner of the blanket. "Good boy. Come here first."

Life under the sea is a chaotic mess. Just as Zhu Wupan finds hope of returning to the human world, the merman's condition suddenly gets worse.

He goes crazy at least three times a day...

Zhu Wupan jumps three feet in the air. "My dear lord, please don't go crazy. I beg you."

With Zhu Wupan no longer in his arms, Rong Zhu gets even worse.

Zhu Wupan is at his wit's end. "How about we hire another comfort animal? One for each of us?"

Rong Zhu's eyes darken. "Getting bold enough to keep a spare, are you?"

Zhu Wupan howls at the sky. "System, come out here! He's not having his episodes the way you taught me!"

The System pretends to be dead again, but quietly reminds him: lovesickness is an illness too.

Zhu Wupan: ...

P.S. He's an otter at first, but turns human pretty quickly.

P.P.S. The top is mentally stable most of the time.

Theme: Sincere devotion can change anything.
